Star of the popular series, Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Andy Whitfield has passed away from non-Hodgkin Lymphoma at the age of 39.
He was diagnosed in 2010 and had previously been in remission, before the disease took him yesterday (Sept 11 2011) in Sydney Australia, where he had lived for 12 years. He also had roles in popular Australian tv shows McLeod's Daughters, The Strip & Packed to Rafters.
Spartacus has gone onto a second series, recasting the role after Andy was diagnosed.
