Q & A Interview with Eyecon Founder

We recently sent some questions over to Kenny, who is the founder of Eyecon, to answer a few questions for us regarding the upcoming Vampire Diaries convention to be held in Atlanta, Georgia the weekend of March 25-27th. This will be the first ever North American Vampire Diaries Convention.

What made you choose Vampire Diaries for your next big event?
Autumn, our Guest Relations. She loves the show and mentioned to me that this fandom is amazing so I watched it and fell into it myself. I love doing conventions where the fans are as enthused as they are with The Vampire Diaries. It makes it so much fun for me.

Are there plans to add more names from the show to the list of celebrity guests?
Yes, Always. We will work to the end to bring as many as possible.

This time around you are hosting a Miss Mystic Falls Pageant. Can you tell us a little about that. How one enters? What kind of attire they need? What the winner gets?
Its a pageant based on individuality, appearance and knowledge of the show. One may enter by emailing Autumn at autumndawn411@aol.com. They may dress in anything they would like. Were deciding prizes now.

What other events will the fans be able to participate in or enjoy?
Plenty, Q&A Sessions, Autograph Sessions, a Cocktail Carnival, Celebrity Banquet and Masquerade Ball to name a few.

What do you think makes Eyecon a better choice when fans are torn between different events to spend their money on?
EyeCon has ALWAYS held the most fan friendly events with the most celebrity contact for the fans. The entire staff is made up of family and friends, my own mom works  registration! We know what it's like to be fans because most of us are so we are careful to make our events as intimate and fun as possible.

CBS Announces Criminal Minds Spinoff

That's right everyone. Your favorite crime show is twisting off a little piece of what they do. With an all new cast,  except the lovely Kirsten Vangness from the original Criminals Minds (No she isn't quitting that gig), CBS has created another team that will also be working for the BAU.

Forrest Whitaker is leading up as Unit Chief Sam Cooper in this spinoff, named Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior. The Supervisory Special Agents will be Matt Ryan, Beau Garrett, Michael Kelly, Janeane Garofalo, and playing the FBI Director will be Jack Schiff.

This is yet another series you literally can't miss as Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior will air right after Criminal Minds on Wednesdays. A full two hours of Criminal Minds love. Nothing can be the original, but at least it gives us another hour of badass cops. The show is set to air February 16, 2011.

Hugh Hefner engaged again...

Given the widely publicized fact previous #1 'Girl Next Door' Holly Madison desperately wanted Hef to divorce his wife Kimberley Conrad so they could get married, it appears that Hef has finally decided to say 'I do' again and has gotten engaged to current #1 girlfriend (and only full time girlfriend that we know of at the moment) Crystal Harris.

The big question was dropped on Boxing Day and the 2009 December Playmate has said yes! At 24years of age, it seems Hef still likes his loves young and blonde. At least he's consistent. There were twins in the mix earlier this year but after 11 months it seems like they aren't being replaced.

Wonder what the wedding will look like and if they'll release pics for us all to look at and is it just me or does Crystal look A LOT like a younger version of his baby momma Kimberley.....?

Bret Michaels is off the market...

After 3 seasons of trying to find 'the one' via the very reliable medium of reality television, Bret Michaels has gone down on bended knee to his 16 year on-again-off-again mother of his 2 children girlfriend.

He turned down a 4th season 'Rock of Love'; the hit VH1 show where he dated a house full of (very interesting) girls before choosing 1 girl (standard stuff) but there was never really anything romantic with any of the winners. Instead of a 4th season of 'Rock of Love' Bret signed up for a 'cameras follow my every day life' reality show named 'Bret Michaels - Life as I know it' and had cameras all around as he popped the question
"I love you, and you've been unbelievably a big part of my life, and we have two beautiful girls together, I know we love and respect each other, and I hope that we can find that inner love that we have forever. And I want you to be my wife.....................Just say yes, because rejection will kill me right now"

The lucky lady, Kristi Gibson, was there for him when he had a massive brain hemorrhage earlier this year as well as having to have an emergency appendectomy and finding out he had a hole in his heart this year as well.

Farro brothers part ways with Paramore...

There has been an announcement on Paramore's website and Hayley tweeted that whilst the Farro brothers (Zach & Josh) have officially parted ways with the band 'Paramore is (still) a band'.

The band has pretty much been touring for 3+ years non stop and in the announcement, it was said that "For the last year it hasn't seemed as if they wanted to be around anymore. We want Josh and Zac to do something that makes them happy and if that isn't here with us, then we support them finding happiness elsewhere" but there has been no official word yet on what that might be. The band will be taking the tour to South America next year, so they'll have to replace the boys lickety-split. As they've had a bit of time to mull it over (apparently the band new a little while ago) and no doubt there are oodles of people wanting to fill their places on the tour bus.

Josh was the drummer and Zach went crazy on the guitar. I've had the pleasure of seeing them twice in 2010 and I can't wait to see what happens next for both the Farro boys and Paramore and they all move onto new and exciting things.

NuEra Concert Review

Last night I (Kristin) attended a concert at The Haven in Orlando, Florida to attend a free concert for a band called NuEra. This was my first ever metal concert and I was very intrigued to see what I was getting myself into. When we first arrived you could see the area that was cleared out for the mosh pit. This was what I was most excited to see, as I would never mosh for the simple fact that I am clausterphobic.

Anyway, onto the music. The band is made up of six guys, none of which I know the names to quite yet, but it is definitely something I will be checking out in the near future. They have a perfect mixture of soft rock, hard rock, metal, and even a little rap and funk in the mix. I was impressed with the way they took these different music styles and mixed them into their own unique sound. As someone who is not a huge fan of metal, these guys are definitely someone I would go out to see again, purchase a CD, some merchandise (they sell hats, shirts, and bracelets) and I'll definitely be keeping my eye on them. A future guest possibly... absolutely!

Check them out by swinging over to their MYSPACE PAGE and purchasing a CD or two.

Jersey Shore Cast Member Indicted on Assault Charges

Ronnie Ortiz-Magro from the hit MTV show 'Jersey Shore' has been indicted on assault charges for an incident that happened during the filming of season one. According to reports, a grand jury has evidence that he committed a crime. Although the incident is not caught on camera during season one, you do hear him bragging about the incident.

As of right now, no one knows Ronnie's thoughts on the matter and apparently no lawyer is yet listed for him.

Senate Repeals 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'

After just speaking of this the other day while we were interviewing Adam Bouska and Jeff Parshley from the NOH8 Campaign, the Senate today vote and, in our opinion, won the vote to turn over the 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' law that was put into play back in Clinton's day in office.

Republicans even joined into the vote to help switch this law. Obama had pledged to reverse this law when first signing into office and it looks like he lived up to his word. For years it has been that service men and women had to hide their sexual orientation in order to serve our country, and it is about time we allow everyone an equal opportunity.

We here at Artists On Demand are very thankful that this has taken place and we hope this is just one step in the right direction.

Check out more of this story from The New York Times.

Water For Elephants Trailer

Here is the new trailer for the upcoming blockbuster "Water For Elephants" starring Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson... and it looks amazing.

More celeb couples split...

It has been confirmed that Hollywood prettiest couple, Ryan Reynolds and Scarlet Johansson have split after 2 years of marriage (a marriage that happened after only 4 months of their engagement), but they have done so amicably, quoting "After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we've decided to end our marriage. We entered our relationship with love and it's with love and kindness we leave it."

Also (for you non-Aussies, look these guys up) radio personality and all around funny guy Andy Lee and international supermodel Megan Gale have officially separated after 4 years and as it seems to be the theme of the day, they have also done so on good terms. "In October, Andy and Megan parted ways. They remain great friends and both think the world of each other"

The Hoff is taken off the air...

We previously blogged about David Hasselhoff being given his own reality tv show...well it appears that no one tuned in as it has been unceremoniously cancelled after only 2 episodes going to air. Not even 1,000,000 people tuned in and with shows clocking over 5,000,000 getting dumped this year it seems there was no hope of it ever flying.

Seems he'll have to come up with another way to keep his mug in the news.

This picture was taken three years an another lifetime ago for Liz Hurley and Arun Nayar. After just three years of marriage, Hurley let fans know what was going on via her twitter account by saying, "For the record, my husband Arun & I separated a few months ago."
The couple wed in 2007 at a castle just outside of London in a private ceremony; and followed that up with a more public Hindu wedding in India.

The announcement comes after tabloids put Hurley together with cricket star Shane Warne. Warne announced Monday, that he has also separated from his wife.

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden Tie the Knot

After four years and two children, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden have finally said "I Do." The couple wed in a winter themed ceremony that was officiated by Rev. Joseph Simmons. For those of you that don't know who that is, it is none other than Rev. Run himself.

The bride was walked down the aisle by her father, Lionel Richie; and the flower girl was the couple's 2 year old daughter, Harlow. The bride wore a Marchesa gown, and was joined by Maid of Honor Masha Gordon.

The ceremony was held at the home of Lionel Richie and was attended by about 150 guest, including Khloe Kardashian and Samantha Ronson, among many others. The biggest guest of all was the elephant that was brought into the tent at about 5:40 pm.

Congratulations to the couple and their beautiful family!

'Unbearable Lightness - a story of Loss & Gain' book review...

OK, this book is a very personal and quite harrowing walk through of what it means to feel worthy of yourself. It's Portia De Rossi's (Amanda Rogers to her mum and now Portia DeGeneres) biography that was released last month and it takes you on a real step by step journey of how easy it can be for someone to become all-encompassed in an eating disorder (or 2 in this case) and struggle with their real identity.

It was a little weird to have a biography start when someone is 25, but this is not a story about someone's ordinary life journey, this is almost like a diary. We pick up the story when Portia landed the role of Nelle Porter on the 90's show 'Ally McBeal', continue with her dealing with Hollywood's pressure to be small including a costume director getting grumpy; 'nobody told me she was a size 8', her misguided (or non guided) attempts to get a 'straight' girlfriend, being forced to get help and ends with her beautiful wedding to Ellen.

Whilst this book is very serious there are a few lighter moments, including a few passing references to Ellen - 'its OK Mum, it's not like I'm dating Ellen DeGeneres' was my favourite. She was referring to the fact that her mum was one of the only people that knew she was gay.

I did find myself thinking, towards the end, that it was getting repetitive but then I realised that strict repetition, routine & control were at the core of Portia's life for many many years and it was a true reflection of her reality. My heart sank as she applauded herself for getting to 40kg (88pounds) and soared as she found true love.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough, but reader beware it is personal and can be a little hard to read at times but I can remember the tabloids that she mentions and knowing what was going on behind the scenes is very interesting and eye opening.

U2 / JayZ 360' tour review...,

Wowers, good golly gosh, freaking amazing, outta the park!! I can't swear on here so that is my initial PG impression!!

Last night I was treated to an amazing 3.5hrs of out of this world entertainment (literally, the stage looks like a spaceship and they referenced space/aliens alot...) from music mogul/producer/rapper/Mr Beyonce JayZ as well as rock gods U2! There were 2 camps here...the die hard U2 fans who didn't know and didn't want to know who or what JayZ was all about and the others who were super stoked to get to see 2 MAJOR acts on the 1 stage for the price of 1 ticket...and pretty much 0 in-betweeners which made for a few interesting conversations.

We arrived part way through JayZ's set and rushed in to a massive sound wall of pumping bass and a few x-rated lyrics, but we were all screaming along and loving it. He performed well and got the crowd pumped and (best of all) acknowledged where he was and thanked us for being there...many times...quite a few artists do not do this!! :(    FYI - Brisbane, Australia

We waited patiently and the clock on the screen ticked down...before disintegrating and the first sounds of David Bowie's 'Space Oddity' came on and the screen showed U2 walking from the dressing rooms and up the ramp onto the stage and the crowd went wild.

The performed a full set with a semi moving stage and the most amazing light show...seriously the best set up I've ever seen at a concert, and then came back on for 2 encores.

Part way through the very energetic and fast paced show, Bono pulled a girl on stage and serenaded her, walked around the stage with her and kissed her on the hand, at which point she looked like she nearly fell over. He was hugging her and it was so sweet. She looked so overwhelmed but held up very well considering.

True to style, they pushed the human rights message pretty strongly and showed videos by Desmond Tutu and a particularly poignant one about the plight of the Burmese political prisoners. During 'Sunday, Bloody Sunday' approx 25 Amnesty International voluteers walked out onto the circular stage catwalk, all carrying oversized Amnesty Candles. It was breaktaking.

One moment that stands out for me was during 'I still haven't found what I'm looking for' when Bono took his 'ears' out and had the crowd sing to him and then he applauded us (I love it when bands/musicians do that).

The second encore was almost like a completely different mini show. The lighting was intense and there was a big animated lead up with cartoon aliens (that I'm not quite sure anyone understood) and then POW! Bono comes flying onto the stage in a jacket with red LED laser thingys down the arms and across the shoulders and a lit up circular microphone that hung on a long wire. What surprised me that was after the entire concert running around the 360' stage, Bono still had the energy to spare to swing on the microphone wire like Tarzan. What a champion.

The night before they had performed a tribute to John Lennon on the anniversary of his death and apparently that was very well received.

10 out of 10!

We look forward to wrapping up 2010 and starting 2011 with a bang for the end of our 2nd and beginning of our 3rd year on air!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!

Video Of The Week

This video was directed by Alex Lamburini, a past guest of Artists On Demand, and is for a band called The Given Motion for their song "It's So Clear". Check it out! Not bad at all for a director who is not even legal to smoke cigarettes. Future star in the making? We think so. And the band is amazing as well.

Criminal Minds' New Cast Member?

If you watched Criminals Minds last night, Dec. 8th, you got the feeling of a new face amongst the cast. Rachel Nichols, who was playing Rookie Agent Seaver in the show seemed like someone who might stick around. As soon as we saw her we had that feeling. Turns out that Nichols was set to be in three episodes starting yesterday, but has recently been hired on as the new cast member.

Ever since the release of A.J. Cook, everyone has been up in the air about who would be the female replacement that CBS talked about. Luckily we still have Prentis and our favorite computer tech as well.

Nichols was apparently very sketchy about the part because she knew it was a part that the world was just waiting to hate. Everyone was a huge fan of Cook's part, and was very upset, starting online petitions to get her part back. We are very intrigued by Nichols new part, as her character is the daughter of a well known serial killer who is serving life in prison in North Dakota after killing 25 women. We wait patiently to see how this character develops and if she, for sure, ends up sticking around for good.

Oprah's Ultimate Australian Adventure begins...

Some 300 lucky guests have touched down in Sydney, Australia yesterday courtesy of Oprah in what is shaping up to be a ginormous finale season. Jocelyn Kelley, who came from Boston with her mother Gloria, said she "would never in a million years think I would be going to Australia, and with Oprah - it's unbelievable, it's an unbelievable experience and I just want to soak in every bit of it"

Miss O herself flew in in her private jet and touched down in Cairns, Queensland today where she'll no doubt spend some time visiting the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree which is a heritage listed rainforest.

Other locations on the tour itinerary include Kangaroo Island, Uluru (Ayres Rock), and the Blue Mountains as well as the wine regions of Margaret River and the Barossa, Hunter and Yarra Valleys. The lucky guests will participate in snorkelling, cycling, bushwalking, surfing lessons and much much more and even on their first day had seen much of Sydney's sights, ending the day with an exclusive (and closed door) animal encouter at Sydney's Taronga Zoo.

There will be 2 shows to taped at the 'O'prah House next week, to be aired in the new year and a further 3rd show will air afterwards showing Oprah's favorite parts of Australia.

The ultimate in fan memoriabilia....

This weekend gone, Julien's Auctions held one of their regular 'Icons & Idols' auctions where true (cashed up) fans managed to snap up rare finds such as John Lennon's jacket:

This is a jacket that was given as a donation to the Salvation Army where a fan spotted it and salvaged it. The jacket, worn by Lennon in 1966 for a Life magazine photo shoot ... inspired the cover for the Sergeant Pepper album and a strong aesthetic that fans loved and copied and is still going strong today.

Other items that this company has sold this year include Madonna's stage worn 'Girlie Show Tour' bra, stage worn Loafers of Michael Jackson's, hand painted & signed Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones) guitar, 2 of Elvis' handguns, 1 of Princess Diana's ballgowns and a basketball signed by both Michael Jackson & Michael Jordan! Phew....that's a lot of authentic, un-replaceable serious gear right there AND if that wasn't enough, they have just held an exclusive 'Johnny Cash' auction.

So if you win the lottery this Christmas, click here and live the dream and if not, do what the rest of us do and stare in awe.

Madonna's hard bodies were made to wait...

Only 3 days after the first 'Hard Candy Fitness' workout space opened the business was shut down due to the fact that the building and site haven't been inspected and approved. There had not been enough permits issued stating that safety has been correctly taken care of with emergency exits etc. Apparently the jobs had been done, but not all the paperwork had been filed (why does it always come down to missing paperwork!!!)

The first pics of the interior have now been released and not surprisingly, but kind of strangely, the walls are adorned with giant murals and pictures of Madonna....
After the grand opening, Madonna herself taught a dance class to a select group of 20 people who were also treated to a live DJ music set from Paul Oakenfold as well....LUCKY!!

Now that the inspection has been done the plans are to open quite a few more (see our previous story on this matter here)

Joe Manganiello flies the flag...

True Blood's alpha wolf has posed in a fantastic shoot for Vanity Fair Italia....how proud the people of Italy must be to call Mr Manganielllo one of their own!

Not only was he asked to read for his audition shirtless but he seems to like the fact that his character, as weird as it seems, is a good guy at heart. When Vanity Fair asked what we might see in regards to Alcide & Sookie's relationship he said "They’ve been under a lot of stress right now. There have been a couple of opportunities for him to go there with Sookie, but if he had taken those opportunities, he would have gone against his moral code. He would be less of a man for taking advantage of her"

Can't wait to see where all the characters end up in Season 4, but this is one relationship that most fans are hanging on edge about.

Oh, and for a few more (shirtless) pics...click here

Josh Duhamel Escorted Off Flight

While on a flight from New York City to Kentucky on Thursday, Josh Duhamel would not turn his cell phone off for take off. He was asked three timed by a flight attendant to turn the device off, but he was rude and laughed in the attendants face.

After the third request, the plane left the tarmac and returned to the gate. Upon arrival at the gate, the actor was escorted off of the plane by two officers.

When his rep was asked about the incident, they informed the press that Duhamel was just trying to let people know that the flight was delayed. When asked for a statement from the actor, he said "He's Sorry."

Was the actor's behavior appropriate?

Britney's calling you out!...

Two quite interesting things happened in the world of Britney Spears today....
1. she tweeted that her new album should be dropping in March which is HUGE news now she's on the up and up career wise
& 2. her calling out Star Magazine about a story it published saying that her boyfriend Jason was getting a little rough, requesting that they (and I quote here, see below) 'kiss my lily white southern Lousiana ass!'
Way to let them know how you really feel there Brit....! We hope you have happy birthday now that you've gotten that off your chest.

Sons of Anarchy - Season 3 Ending

Wow! That is all I can say. Kurt Sutter did a beautiful job wrapping up many loose ends for Season 3 while leaving enough open to keep you wanting more in the 4th season. If you have never seen Sons of Anarchy I recommend you rent it on Netflix or even watch reruns on FX. As I have said in the past I don't generally prescribe to illegal activity and partake in mortorcycle rides but I love this show. Check it out any way you can and look forward to Season 4 next September.

World Aids Day campaign...

In a super involved and hopefully super successful campaign for World Aids Day 2010 Keep A Child Alive, celebs such as Kim Kardashian, Serena Williams & Ryan Seacrest have posed as corpses...yes, you read right! Corpses!

The clever photos show the celebs in coffins with the phrase 'KIM KARDASHIAN IS DEAD'...substitute the name of course. The death is virtual...literally. Each of the celebs participating has vouched to 'kill' their digital life including twitter accounts, facebook accounts, blogs etc until $1,000,000 is raised.

All YOU have to do is go to the official Keep A Child Alive site and "Buy Life" by texting a $10 donation, buying some merch, becoming a monthly donor or even go the extra mile and start your own fund raising campaign! Also, you can check out their YouTube site here.

So, if you're not sure why your fave celeb's digital life has become a little quiet, donate and get them back online!
