The weekend kicked off as attendees filed into the massive exhibit room. You could find anything from comic book stands, memorabilia, and costumes. Fans flocked to the shops as well as got in line to pick up tickets for photo ops with some of their favorite celebrities. The most popular photo ops were Stan Lee (obviously), Tom Felton, and Joseph Morgan. Many were dissatisfied with the photo op time frame, as you were allotted approximately five seconds (we counted) with the star before you were ushered out the other side. For $30-$50 per picture, at least thirty seconds would have been nice.
The photos, on the otherhand, were fantastic and left a lasting memory (and bragging rights) to your friends on how you got to meet (and briefly lay your hands on) your favorite celebrities. You could get a little more one on one time with the celebrities of your choice by visiting their booths. This was where you could get your autographs and just chat with them (if they had a free moment, as they were running back and forth between photo ops, Q&A's, and personal time.). The Vampire Diaries stars made some extra time to chat with each and every fan that came up for an autograph.
We got a chance to chat with Ghost Hunters International crew members Scott Tepperman and Paul Bradford about the new season, which kicked off on February 22nd at 9 pm EST on SyFy. They are two of the funniest people we have ever had the privileged of interviewing.

Tom Felton took a few minutes with each fan to answer questions, talk about his beloved dog Timber, and made a few fans swoon with names like sweetheart and lovely. Yes ladies, this man is just as beautiful and polite in person as he seems online and during interviews. A gentleman and one of the most down to earth celebrities we have encountered. Same can be said for Corin Nemec, who you may recognize from Supernatural or Stargate SG1. We got a chance to talk to him about his experience in acting and meeting up with fans at MegaCon.

Last, but certainly not least, we sat down with David Anders, who played John Gilbert, father to Elena, in the hit CW show Vampire Diaries, while he had lunch. We got the scoop on what he is up to, his favorite memories from the set of Vampire Diaries, and when we should be on the lookout for his most recent projects.

All in all, you missed out if you weren't at MegaCon anytime during February 17th-19th. The panels were informative and hilarious with some of the biggest names in scifi, you got to get up close and personal with those same celebrities, and the fans made the event more colorful with inspired costumes and designs as they meandered their way through the many shops and exhibits. MegaCon staff sure knows how to throw a party and this convention was by far one of the best we have ever been to.
MegaCon already has a little bit of information up for next years event so you can start planning now. Will you be there in 2013? We sure will!
