We recently did a virtual sit down with Andrea Frankle, who plays the seemingly cold and damaged Catherine Gagnon in the upcoming TNT movie 'Hide'. Hide is based on the book written by N.Y. Times Bestselling author Lisa Gardner, who is famous for her suspense filled novels.
'Hide' airs on TNT on December 6th at 9 pm EST. You can swing over and buy the book from Barnes and Noble or Amazon.
Listen to what Andrea Frankle could tell us about the movie that she costarred in with Carla Gugino and Kevin Alejandro.
You play Catherine Gagnon in the upcoming TNT movie ‘Hide’ that hits TV on December 6th. Can you tell us how you got that part?
Sure. Through my agent here, I had an audition for the role and then later a callback with the director and producers. Pretty much how I get all my jobs!
Hide is based on the book ‘Hide’ by N.Y. Times Best selling author, Lisa Gardner. Did you get the chance to meet Gardner when preparing for this film?
Unfortunately, no, I wish I had. I’m a real admirer of her work and am so honored to be a part of this project!
Your character is in this book; however, she was also the main character in Lisa Gardner’s book ‘Alone’ that was released prior to ‘Hide’. Did you read both books to get a feel for your character, or did you just read ‘Hide’.
Yes, actually, I did study ‘Alone’ for character traits. I was intrigued by Catherine’s seemingly impenetrable air in the script of HIDE- her coldness- and I needed to know more to be able to see through it and to know what she was fighting against- and why she needed to know Annabelle.
You have done quite a bit of work on all types of projects. Some say that working on a movie based on a book is harder because the fans put a lot more pressure on the cast to live up to the book. Did you find that to be true?
Oh, absolutely. I’m definitely one of those book fans who look for my favorite book moments in the movie! I think it’s natural to do so and only honors the author even more in the process.
The cast in this movie is pretty amazing. How did you like working with them and what was it like on set?
Oh my gosh they were amazing. I was so honored to be with them! The scene in Catherine’s house when they come to see me was really intense and they were all so supportive. Carla is so genuinely kind- both as a person and acting partner. Really wonderful. And Bridget, too, so lovely. And Kevin was completely present and also really funny! They were all super and I loved working with them every minute!
Why do you think fans will love this movie?
I think they’ll love the story. Lisa Gardner weaves the characters lives and layers them so well within this suspenseful background. It’ll keep you guessing until the end. And the cast- Carla, Bridget and Kevin are riveting to watch.
You are a very busy lady. Can you tell us what else we should be on the lookout from you coming up?
Sure! Yes, I am busy and hoping to stay that way! I’ll be in theaters this February in So Undercover starring Miley Cyrus and Jeremy Piven. I am filming now on two pilots, and am about to start work on a film starring Mark Wahlberg.
