Did George Lucas always intend for their to be 9 Star Wars Films?

"Star Wars" sequels: George Lucas (R) with Disney CEO Robert Iger.

Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?  Only George Lucas knows, maybe....

By now you've heard the very widely reported deal where Disney purchased Lucas Arts, right?   Well, Disney has said that it will make three more Star Wars movies.  Was that George's plan all along?

"This was never planned as a nine-episode work," Lucas told MTV. "The media (pounced when) I made an offhand comment, `It might be fun to come back when everyone's 80 and do another one of these' But I never had any intention of doing that."

The idea of more sequals really began to gain buzz after a 1983 book by Denise Worrell called "Icons: Intimate Portraits." The book quotes Lucas saying he intended to make three "Star Wars" trilogies: one dealing with the social and political (the set that fans believe covers the movies released from 1999 through 2005), another would cover personal growth and self-realization (topics covered in original trio of films) and the final stanza would delve into moral and philosophical problems.  If this is true, then the Disney films will be dealing with the moral problems, something they've done before.

As for his recent statements  that he would stop at six, Lucas said that's still true. In selling to Disney, he said he is entrusting the lucrative franchise to a new generation of filmmakers. Kathleen Kennedy, the current co-chairman of Lucasfilm, will lead that effort, with Lucas serving as creative consultant.

What do you think of the Disney purchase of Lucas Arts?  Do you want to see more Star Wars movies?  How about a Darth Vader Disney ride?

Happy Halloween - Hollywood Ghosts and Haunts

The "Haunted" Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, CA

Happy Halloween from your friends at Artists on Demand!

To get into the spirit of the day we are going to share some of the supposedly haunted spots in Tinseltown.  When most of us think of Hollywood, we think of the glittering actors and actresses or the beautiful weather; however, there is a always a more sinister side of the story.  It's a place where dark things happen, as any dank castle, and there are many people who would sacrifice it all to have a place among the stars.

One of the most haunted places, the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, is said to have two celebrity ghosts -  Montgomery Clift, stayed at the hotel for three months while rehearsing his role in the 1953 movie "From Here to Eternity." His ghost now allegedly haunts room #928 of the 9th floor of the hotel, playing a trumpet, and pacing the hallways while reciting his old lines.

Marilyn Monroehas supposedly been seen several times in a full-length mirror, which was originally located in her poolside Suite 1200, where Marilyn often stayed. The mirror in which her image supposedly appears is now located next to the elevator on the lower level

There is also supposed to be a "cold spot" in the Blossom Ballroomat the same Roosevelt Hotel (the room where the very first Academy Awards ceremony was held), a circle about 30 inches in diameter and about 10 degrees colder than the rest of the ballroom.

Ready to book a room at the Roosevelt?   I might be tempted to stay there to get a glimpse of Marilyn's ghost.

The ghost of magician Harry Houdini is said by some to roam the remains of his former home in the Hollywood Hills, located at 2398 Laurel Canyon Boulevard.   That can't be true, can it?  Mr. Houdini very famously scorned all things supernatural and said that if there were a way to come back from beyond, he would most certainly do so to prove it's validity.  Hmm?

Culver Studios - where "Gone With the Wind" was shot - was built by film-make Thomas Ince. Rumor has it that Ince was accidentally shot and killed by a jealous William Randolph Hearst (the inspiration for "Citizen Kane"), who was supposedly aiming at Charlie Chaplinbut missed. According to the legend, the ghost of Thomas Ince now haunts his old studio, walking through walls and criticizing the new management.

The Vogue Theatre in Hollywood is supposed to be haunted by at least seven separate entities, allegedly including one particular spirit identified as "Fritz," a projectionist at the theater, who died in the projection booth. Other ghosts here include a a maintenance engineer, as well as a school teacher and her students who were killed almost a century ago when Prospect Elementary School (which used to stand on the site) burned down. The Vogue has been featured on numerous network TV broadcasts, and it is claimed that most film crews have had paranormal experiences inside the Vogue.

So, do you believe in ghosts?

 Happy Halloween!

Paul McCartney says, "Yoko didn't break up the Beatles."

“She certainly didn’t break the group up, the group was breaking up,” McCartney told David Frost in an interview timed loosely with the Beatles’ 50th anniversary.

“I don’t think you can blame her for anything,” McCartney says in the interview for Frost’s program, which is slated to air November 9, 2012.   “When Yoko came along, part of her attraction was her avant-garde side, her view of things, so she showed him another way to be, which was very attractive to him. So it was time for John to leave, he was definitely going to leave” with or without Yoko in the picture."  They were all ready to leave the group.

John Lennon often noted that each of the Beatles had quit the band before the group’s formal dissolution in 1970, and also argued that anyone who blamed Ono for the band’s breakup by extension should be very grateful to her for the later music that they each created.

Wreck- It Ralph: Movie Review

I was lucky enough to attend an advance 3D screening of Wreck-It Ralph and I'm here to tell you it may be the best animated movie of the year. But before I get into the details of the feature film, I want to say a few words about the "short" that was played before the movie, aptly named, Paperman. A beautiful, quirky, serendipitous love story between two strangers brought together by fate... and paper. One of the best things about these Disney shorts is their ability to convey every character's personality and tell the story with just music, great animation and absolutely no words. When it ends, you may or may not have the sudden urge to give out hugs and let out a big "awwww!"
Going into Wreck-It Ralph you're instantly transported back to your childhood. Back to the days where video arcades were the only form of entertainment and we were all okay with that... Ah, the good ol' days before iPhones and computers. All you needed was a few quarters and you were set for the rest of your afternoon. This movie makes you feel quite nostalgic. The story follows Ralph, a bad guy who is just tired of being the bad guy and wants to be treated like a hero. But on the way to becoming a hero, he learns that being the bad guy isn't really so bad afterall.
With characters like Sonic the Hedgehog and Pacman making cameo appearances and new favorites like Vanellope and Ralph himself, you're bound to have many memorable moments. BONUS: Grammy Award winner and Electronic Dance Music favorite Skrillex makes a nice little appearance and is also featured on the film's soundtrack! John C. Reilly provides the voice for Ralph and other comedy favorites like Sarah Silverman, who voices the annoying yet adorable Vanellope, Jane Lynch as Sergeant Calhoun and Jack McBrayer as Fix-It Felix-- the laughs just keep coming and coming.

The story and animation were nothing like anything we've ever seen before. The animation is something you need to see to believe because it's so amazing, it's indescribable. This is a cartoon movie for all ages, girl or boy, even parents will enjoy this flick. I will say this, it takes a lot for a Disney film to surprise me. They tend to be a bit predictable at times because they are children's movies, but this movie exceeded my expectations and even caught me off guard at one point. It's a great story about accepting yourself and overcoming your hardships with dedication, hard work and a little help from your friends. My advice is to go check it out opening weekend and give this movie the credit it deserves; it's fun for the whole family! Disney truly never disappoints.

Check out the trailer here! Wreck-It Ralph is in theaters this Friday, November 2nd, 2012!

Green Day cancels and postpones shows through early 2013

Billy Joe Armstrong headed to rehab just a few days after his meltdown in Las Vegas in September.  Green Day has now canceled the rest of its North American club tour dates for this year and postponed appearances scheduled for January and February 2013

“Obviously, the timing for this isn’t ideal, but Billie Joe’s well-being is our main concern,” bassist Mike Dirnt said in a statement.  “We are happy to say that Billie Joe is doing well, and we want to thank you all for the outpouring of support and well wishes that we have received, and we can’t wait to see you all again soon."

With Armstrong working on his recovery, the band has decided to move up the release date for “¡Tré!,” the final installment of its trilogy. Initially planned to hit stores Jan. 15, the disc will now arrive Dec. 11.

“We feel bad we have to delay our tour, so to make up for it we want to give our fans the music earlier than we had planned,” drummer Tré Cool added in the statement. “If we couldn’t be there to play it for you live, the least we could do was give you the next best thing.”

We wish Billie Joe well.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Mo Gallini - Chicago Fire

You currently play Jose Vargas on NBC’s new hit show Chicago Fire. Can you tell us a bit about your character and how he fits into the story?

Vargas is a 16 year firefighting veteran who is trying to work his way to a leadership position. He is making the switch from TRUCK to SQUAD. The SQUAD is like the Navy Seals. They specialize in the more extreme rescues. You’ll see how his relationships shift with his former TRUCK mates once he switches over to SQUAD. It is a little bit of a competitive thing that goes on.

The first few episodes have been a mixture of sad, tense, nerve racking, funny, and a few random happy moments. What kind of feeling will the rest of this season give the viewers?

I have to say it is non stop. Thinks are always moving and changing. It really is like making a movie every week. Lots of Action, Lots of fun!!! I feel like a little kid who gets to play fireman everyday!!!

Can you give us any hints as to different scenarios we might see throughout this season?

No way!!!! You guys will have to tune in and go on a ride with us!!! Playing a firefighter, EMT, or other “real life hero” seems like it could be a lot of pressure.

How important is it to live up to the real life heroics that these types of people handle in their every day lives?

One of the first things that I did before shooting the pilot was to do a 24 hour shift at one of the houses. It was the best lesson of what firefighters were all about. These are SELFLESS human beings that one minute are sitting around the table telling jokes and busting each others balls and the next they’re putting their life on the line for a complete stranger. The whole cast works hard everyday to honor what they stand for!!!

What do you think it is about this show that is drawing the viewers in?

I really believe that it is the relationships inside the firehouse that people are going to want to follow. It truly is an AMAZING group of people that have come together to make up this “family” and it was there from the first minute that we all met...which is very rare.

Up against many other shows on television, what sets Chicago Fire apart?

Like I mentioned earlier, it feels like we are making a movie every week instead of a television show. Our writer/creators Derek Haas and Michael Brandt have written “3:10 to Yuma”, “Wanted”, “2 Fast 2 Furious” etc.... So they bring that big screen vision to the table every episode.

The viewers and fans are the ones that will get Chicago renewed for another season and continuously coming back for more. If you could say anything to them, what would it be?

Come join our family of firefighters at Firehouse 51 Wednesdays at 10PM!!! It’s a wild ride!!!!

Aside from Chicago Fire, are there any other projects we should be on the lookout for from you?

I have a film called “SEAL TEAM SIX: THE RAID ON OSAMA BIN LADEN” premiering on the National Geographic channel on November 4th. It is the first film to be released on the mission to kill Bin Laden. It has a great cast and I have a AWESOME role right at the beginning of the film. Much, much different from VARGAS.....:)

Sunday Book Club - Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

In 1946, after WWII, a young Englishwoman named Claire Beauchamp Randall goes to the Scottish Highlands with her husband, Frank.   She’s an ex-combat nurse, he’s been in the army as well, they’ve been separated for the last six years, and this is a second honeymoon; they’re getting re-acquainted with each other, thinking of starting a family.  But one day Claire goes out walking by herself, and comes across a circle of standing stones—such circles are in fact common all over northern Britain.  She walks through a cleft stone in the circle….and disappears.

Back into 1743, where the first person she meets is a gentleman in an 18th-century army officer’s uniform.  This gentleman, Jack Randall, looks just like her husband Frank—and proves to be Frank’s six-times-great-grandfather.  Unfortunately, he also proves to be a sadistic bisexual pervert, and while trying to escape from him, Claire falls into the hands of a gang of Highland Scots, who are also trying to get away from Black Jack Randall—though for other reasons.

In order to avoid being handed over to Captain Randall, Claire is obliged to marry one of the young clansmen.  So she finds herself trying to escape from Castle Leoch and her Scottish captors, trying to get back to her husband Frank, trying to avoid being recaptured by Captain Randall—and falling in love with Jamie Fraser, the young man she’s she’s been forced to marry.   The story rolls on from there…

Deb's thoughts - Have you ever had people tell you that you are going to like something and then somehow stubbornly you are determined NOT to try it?  No? Okay, it's just me then.  Every online book club or store put this in my recommendations list based on what I read, but did I read it? No.  I did give in and buy the book.  Did I read it then? No. I gave it to my friend to read.  She loved it and is now on the sixth book in the (8 depending on how you count them) book series, "A Breath of Snow and Ashes."

When I saw on the Artist on Demand schedule that I'd be talking to the author, Diana Gabaldon on Monday, October 29, I thought surely this is a sign.  Yes, it was.  This is a wonderful book!  It really can't be put in to one category but if you made me do that, I'd probably pick Historical Fiction but it's much more than just that title.

Remember when your parents to used to say to you, "Do as I say and not as I do." Yeah, I hated that too.  Trust, though, this is a novel that is truly engaging and entertaining.  Don't wait as long as I did.

Also, check out the source for this information the author's website dianagabaldon.com.  She is super interesting too!

I hope she doesn't read this before we talk tomorrow, but tune in at eight pm est to hear our discussion.  Listen in here.

Deja vu? Arnold Schwarzenegger to star in Conan Sequel

Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1982's "Conan the Barbarian."
Wait. What? Really?

Arnold who starred in the NINETEEN EIGHTY TWO movie will star in the (second) reboot of the franchise called "The Legend of Conan" in the summer of 2014. You might have seen the Conan released last year staring, Jason Momoa.  Arnold will reprise his role twenty-eight years after he originally played Conan and film skips over the 1984 sequel starring Schwarzenegger as well as the franchise reboot.

"After the original seminal movie, all that came after looked silly to me," Producer Chris Morgan told Deadline. "Robert E. Howard's mythology and some great philosophy from Nietzsche to Atilla the Hun was layered in the original film. People say, he didn't speak for the first 20 minutes of the film, but that was calculated in depicting this man who takes control of life with his own hand. This movie picks up Conan where Arnold is now in his life, and we will be able to use the fact that he has aged in this story."

Will you see "The Legend of Conan"?  Is Mr. Schwarzenegger still a viable action hero?  Visit the comments and let us know your thoughts.

X-Men Sequel Loses Current Director, Matthew Vaughn

Vaughn who signed on in January has left the project.  On the bright side, Bryan Singer, will be the director who steps in for Mr. Vaughn.  Which is a good thing because if you remember he was the director who was responsible for "X-Men" and "X-Men 2."

The idea is that possibly the characters from Singer's "X-Men" films -- like Patrick Stewart's Professor X,  could appear alongside characters from Vaughn's reboot. Stewart all but confirmed involvement in "X-Men: First Class - Days of Future Past"

Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy will all be back for the sequel.

Entertainment Weekly summarized the sequel - Most of the X-Men are dead; the ones that are still alive are on the run. In the original story, the future version of Kitty Pryde time-travels back in time into her young self’s brain and works with the present-day X-Men to prevent the atrocity that kickstarts the whole miserable future.

"Without a doubt, Daniel Craig is the best Bond." says Roger More

Who is the best James Bond?  It's a question almost as polarizing as "Shaken? or Stirred?"  Personally, I am a Sean Connery fan, there is just something about the way he said "Miss Moneypenny" that was too wonderful.  Also, Pierce Brosnan made a debonair Bond, though that's a more controversial choice.

After seeing Skyfall this week, Roger Moore described Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes' new James Bond film as "without a doubt... the best Bond there's ever been."  What do you think?  I have to say I agree.  Daniel Craig is the best Bond to date. (Sorry, Mr. Connery, I still love you!)

When it was time for Pierce to turn in his Walther PPK, who besides the fabulously cast Mr. Craig, was considered to take over the role?  It's quite an attractive list -  Ralph Fiennes, who was unable to commit to the filming schedule of Casino Royale, and Jude Law, Orlando Bloom, Eric Bana and Heath Ledger were discounted.   Producers chose to go ahead and run screen tests on the four 'finalists'. They had lost the chance of landing Clive Owen after refusing to include gross profit points in his contract.

The contenders were Layer Cake star Daniel Craig, ER actor Goran Visnjic, Australian actor Sam Worthington and 22-year-old Henry Cavill, reported Variety. All were relatively inexperienced, though producers were interested in someone considerably younger than 52-year-old Pierce Brosnan.  They wanted him to be closer to 30 than 50 and to be a little less kitschy, not so reliant on Q and gadgets.    I think they chose well!

Who is being thought of for after Daniel retires from the role?  Your guess is a good as anyone's but I did see an article mentioning Idris Elba.  What do you think?  Do you enjoy Bond movies?  Please leave us your thoughts in the comments section!

Top Earning Dead Celebrities - Liz Taylor is # 1.

File under: Why am I so fascinated with this?

They were friends in life, but as it turns out, Elizabeth Taylor is out earning Michael Jackson in death.  It's pretty hard to top Micheal's $ 125 million that he earned in the last twelve months; however, Dame Elizabeth tops the list with $ 210.00 million.

"How?", you ask.  Some of her unrivaled jewelry collection, costumes, and art were auctioned for $ 18 million dollars.  Every one of the 1800 pieces at auction sold and the most expensive lot was a Van Gough painting that sold for $ 16 million dollars.

She also has one of the world best selling perfumes, White Diamonds, which brought in $ 75 million and of course residuals from her movies.  She was a shrewd negotiator.

Her residuals will probably keep her on this list, but The King of Pop will most likely regain his number one sport next year.

This list, by Forbes Magazine, runs from October 2011 to October 2012.  Number three from the list is Elvis Presley who earned $ 55 million and four is Charles Schultz the creator of the comic strip Peanuts.

Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang are as popular as ever as ever. The Peanuts are the ninth most lucrative entertainment franchise, bringing in $2 billion a year globally at retail. The strip is about to get the big-screen treatment from Fox’s animation division Blue Sky, which produced the Ice Age movies. That could help boost Shulz’ earnings in coming years.

Bob Marley is number five and has become quite the international business man in the afterlife.  He had $17 million in earnings last year. There is now a Marley beverage company which sells Marley’s Mellow Mood, a “relaxation” drink. ( I need to acquire some of that!) Then there’s the House of Marley which sells headphones, speakers and “lively up” bags.

The theatrical release of "Reservoir Dogs" will celebrate the brand new Quentin Tarantino DVD collection "Tarantino XX," which features eight Tarantino films from the first 20 years of his career. "Reservoir Dogs" was his directorial debut.

Fathom Events will also release "Pulp Fiction" in theaters for one night on Dec. 6.

Pax, Zahara, and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt to play roles in Maleficent

Two months ago the studio established that Vivienne Jolie-Pitt will play a younger version of Elle Fanning's Princess Aurora. Now Pax (8) and Zahara (7) will also have smaller non-speaking parts in the film.  Shiloh was also going to be in the live-action Disney movie, but was bored the day of her filming and decided not to be in the film.  Though, Shiloh did appear briefly in her Dad's film "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button".

What do you think about star's children appearing in their films?

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Tinsel Korey - Breaking Dawn, part 2

The Twilight Saga is wrapping up with the release of Breaking Dawn, part 2 on November 16th. For the last few years, fans have camped out at premieres, screamed until they couldn't speak, cried, cheered, and thoroughly enjoyed the books and movies from this saga. With November 16th only weeks away, Tinsel Korey, or as you may know her "Wolf girl", took a few minutes of her extremely busy schedule to talk with us (AGAIN) about the final movie and her experience along the way.

Russell Baer Photography

We have spoken to you every Twilight movie release since New Moon. How does it feel for the release of the last movie to be approaching?

It's feels good. I saw the trailer online, and I was like, 'that looks amazing'. I was thinking about it the other day. The wolf pack has been on this journey for 4 years and now it's the end, and the premiere is a celebration of that. The LA premiere, to me at least, is like a 'Twilight prom'.

Twilight was released in theaters November 21, 2008. New Moon, which is where you started with the series, was released November 20, 2009. Does it feel like it has been 4 years since New Moon came out or 5-6 years since this franchise started to make its way to the big screen?

Not really. The years just flew by, I was looking through photos with Yazzie from "Eye Behold Photography", who has pretty much visually documented the wolf pack journey. And I was just amazed and thankful at all the things that we've been able to experience.

The world is waiting for November 16th to approach. In previous years fans have lined the streets outside of the premieres, stood in line for hours for the movie, and screamed themselves hoarse. This release will be their last hoorah for these types of Twilight events. What are you expecting from the premieres?

Madness. LOL Tears. Happiness. This one will definitely be the biggest. I know so many of the fans that have already said they are going to camp out again.

As someone who is very much in the music world as much as the acting world, the Twilight Saga has shined a light on some pretty amazing music over the years. Do you have a favorite song from any of the movies or maybe a favorite artist?

"Possibility" by Lykke Li

Once the movies are out, this one hits DVD, and there is not another movie release to look forward to, do you think the Twilight hype will die down or will this be one of those series that get passed down through families and friends?

I think Twilight will be one of those series that will stay around like Star Wars. :)

Do you remember where you were when you first heard about Twilight?

I was in Arizona, laying in bed, when the phone rang, and my manager said "You got the part". I started screaming, then I was like "Are you sure? Like, they're not going to change their minds later right?" She was like "No, it's yours" and the rest as they say is history.

Do you think it will be an emotional experience to have all the cast  back together at the premieres and kind of saying goodye to the last five or six years?

Yes. And this time I'm asking for pictures! Every premiere I get really shy and think it'd be lame if I ask for a picture. But this year, I'm asking everyone! :) LOL

What can we expect next from you? We spoke with you just a few months ago about your music! Any more of that?

Ok. So I have big news. But. It's not ready to be announced yet. One, with my music & two, with my movies. But I can't say yet. So next interview we can chat all about that. ;)

What would you like to say to the fans for sticking with The Twilight Saga for so long and helping be as successful as it has been?

Thank you. And a special thank to the "Tinselettes" who have stood by me, believed in me, defended me, and have made this journey an amazing one. From the bottom of my heart, Miigwetch. :)

Thank you so much for taking time to talk to us. As usual, you are always welcome back and we will continue to follow your career and all that you do! Thank you for including us in your journey!
