Hey Everyone,
If you did not make it to the show tonight go on ITUNES right now and download the podcast. There you will find instructions for two contests to win two amazing prizes. Not to mention we had some great conversation about Harry Potter.
I wanted to put up some reflections on the show tonight.
First of all I really want to thank my friend Brynn for helping out. Her lust for Snape and her cool breezy manner was quite a good fit for my passion and Dani's energy. She did awesome!
Second, I really need to thank my roommate Jamie without her assistance this show would have been canceled. My computer has hard drive issues and she was willing to donate her computer/internet time to help out the show. Really do appreciate it!
That is what I love most about Harry Potter fans and these stories. Its about people coming together to do amazing things. In this case it was people coming together to encourage my dorkiness. Which is awesome.
I have a few thoughts that I wasn't able to put in the show due to time constraints and I will be honest thought constraints.
Feminism in Harry Potter
Brynn brought up an awesome point that the story follows powerful men like Lord Voldemort, Harry Potter, and Albus Dumbledore. But that does not take away from the powerful women that are in these books as well. Bellatrix Lestrange, Hermione Grangr, Professor Mongonagall, Nymphadora Tonks, Ginny Weasley, Mrs. Weasley, Luna Lovegood, and so many more. They are each strong characters with a core about them that does not need society or men to dictate what they think or what they do. They are strong whether they are emotional, emotionless, or somewher in between. I also enjoy the true feminism in this story..not the neo kind...but the wonder feminism in which women get to choose what role they want to play. That it does not take away from their strength whether they choose to work, choose to fight, or choose to raise seven of the best damn kids out there.
Ron Weasley
I could go on about him. I get his heart and his good intentions. When you are not sure what you deserve or whether you can do something....it effects your reaction time. I do that all the time. I am doing this now. I am applying to move on professional and as I do it.. I have to convince myself that I derserve it... that people will think I deserve it. So though it may take him awhile to deal with his inner demons...he always finds a way to put that all aside ..to be a great friend. What I value most in people and what I strive to be everyday is to be a reliable friend. Just like Ron Weasley who was described as loveable, trustworthy, and loyal by our on-air personalities.'
Sirius Black
I really wish that I was able to give a few more minuts to Sirius Black. He is a great character. One that is full of adventure, reckless abandon, and straight up unwavering loyalty. Someone who would jump into fire to save his friend. Though I do argue his fate though sad was very necessary for the story and even for his own personality. He is definitely a character that was needed in Harry's life. A father figure who looked out for him but at the same time gave Harry the freedom to be his own man. Our on-air personalities described him as perfect , sexy, and passionate. I think a few of us has a crush on him.
Thanks everyone. Definitely go listen to the show and learn how to win some prizes. If you have any comments about what was said during the show or have any ideas for discussions feel free to email me at megan@artistsondemandonline.com.
