Franco and Hathaway to Host the Oscars

James Franco and actress Anne Hathaway are to host the 83rd Academy Awards to be held on February 27th. Many questioned the choice of hosts as both actors are Oscars contenders. It turned out that Franco is. It was announced today that Franco has been nominated for the first time, for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his exceptional performance in Danny Boyle's biographical adventure film "127 Hours".

The Academy had avoided the problem of having a nominee in the show by having comedians host the Oscars. Although, in the recent years, this had changed as movie actors like Hugh Jackman received good ratings for hosting the 81st Academy Awards. And it is not the first time an Oscar nominee is hosting the Academy. In 1973, Michael Caine who was nominated for Best Actor for his work in "Sleuth" was one of the hosts of the 45th Academy Awards.

"127 Hours" is also nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Adapted Screenplay and Original Score.
