Jamie Oliver pitching in for the Aussie floods...

What luck (of sorts)...UK chef superstar and wholefoods hero, Jamie Oliver, was due to open his new 'Ministry of Food' kitchen in the Queensland town of Ipswich. For those of you who haven't seen what is happening in that part of the world, Ipswich was one of the major towns that nearly totally went underwater in the last 2 weeks.

In a statement, Jamie said, "I've been as shocked as anyone by the scenes of devastation in Queensland and the tragic stories to go with them.
"It's only right that the Ministry of Food Centre in Ipswich plays its part in helping the community, so I hope that providing free freshly cooked meals for those who need them most will go some way to helping the local community and relief workers in the coming days and weeks."

Previously, Jamie had stated that “Ipswich definitely needs our help. I can’t wait to get there, get the shop opened, get the kitchens running and get the community in there. I’m really proud to be going there. I think the community are going to love it, I think they’re going to embrace it.”

His team has been providing up to 250 fresh meals to locals who not only need some food, but need some good food. Every little bit of assistance and the chance of a new start for many will no doubt be jumped upon by locals (and I live less than an hour away, so I might have to go and check it out once it's up and running).
