English actor Christopher Eccleston known for his role as the ninth reincarnation of The Doctor in the British hit show "Doctor Who" is reported to be taking in the place of Mads Mikkelsen as the villan Malekith The Accursed in the new "Thor" film.
Due to conflict in filming schedule with the up-coming NBC show "Hannibal," Mikkelsen will not be taking in the role of Malekith, "a Dark Elf whose people fell at the hands of the Forest Giants."
Eccleston also starred in Danny Boyles' "28 Days Later" alongside Cillian Murphy.
"Thor: The Dark World" stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan SkarsgÄrd, and Idris Elba.
Directed by Alan Taylor ("The Emperor's New Clothes" and a few "Game of Thrones" episodes,) the film is set to be released on November 8th, 2013.
