Director Peter Jackson recently announced that the first Hobbit film will be premiered at his hometown of Wellington in New Zealand.
Wellington will host the world premiere of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" starring Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Andy Serkis, and Benedict Cumberbatch.
Jackson stated that Warner Bros. decided to have the world premiere party in Wellington after being "blown away" by "The Return of the King" world premiere back in 2003.
The premiere is set to happen in November 2012; after then the first Hobbit film will be released worldwide on December 13th, 2012. The second film titled "The Hobbit: There And Back Again" is set to be released in December of 2013.
