Mike Starr, the grunge band Alice in Chains' original bass player was found dead earlier today in a house in Salt Lake City. Starr left the band right after the release of their 1992 album "Dirt." In 2002, the band's front man, Layne Staley passed away; his body was found in a Seattle apartment. The remaining band members, excluding Starr, resurrected the band but with less success. Starr re-emerged as a part of a reality TV show, "Celebrity Rehab" aired on VH1 in January 2010. On February 18, 2011, Starr was arrested in Salt Lake City "on an outstanding warrant related to an earlier drugs charge." Starr was also carrying unauthorized prescription drugs at the time.
Starr was born on April 4th, 1966 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was 44 years old.
Rest in peace.
