Cate Blanchett thinks being on the worst dressed list is a badge of honor.
If I were Cate, I'd probably feel exactly the same way. However, even someone as ethereally lovely as Cate Blanchett has a few beauty and fashion faux pas stories to tell.
She grew up in Australia where the tan surfer girl look was in and she would slather herself with baby oil and try to tan. When her mom explained that it was not a good,or practical, idea Cate went goth. Wouldn't it be cool to see those pictures?
She was asked if she ever consider "office procedures" to stop the aging process, she remarked that she may have considered it ten years ago but now her skin is more balanced. She says, "I think it's that theory, that if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Ms. Blanchett has shown up on a few worst dressed lists over then years and when asked about it she says, "I think it's a badge of honor," she said. "Because if you're worried about that stuff, you can tell. I mean, I've had some doozies, they don't always work. But who are you dressing for? You can't always dress for US Magazine."
"I don't want to drop a designer, but it's usually because there's too much hair and makeup competing with the outfit. Or you've seen something fabulous, and it is fabulous, but it doesn't quite work on you. The other thing is you can fall in love with something on a shoot, and it might work on a still shot, but not in real life."
All lists aside, with lot of amazing couture and three boys, who does she plan to pass her couture down to? "Suddenly my friend's daughters are becoming my best friends. I have so many 12-year-old girlfriends. I don't know, maybe my sons will be gay."
Okay, that just sealed the deal, Cate is totally cool.
What are your challenges? I secretly fear (and long for) that one of my sisters is going to sick Clinton and Stacy on me.
