Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen was recently cast in NBC's contemporary series "Hannibal."
Portraying the cannibal, Hannibal Lecter, a character from Thomas Harris' novel "Red Dragon," Mikkelsen is one of the most successful actors in his country.
In 1996, Mikkelsen portrayed Tony, a troubled hoodlum in the Danish film
"Pusher" by Nicolas Winding Refn, also director of the film "Drive" starring Ryan Gosling.
Mikkelsen starred in various films after that, including two more "Pusher"
sequels by Refn. Mikkelsen also starred in "Casino Royale,"
"Clash of the Titans," and he will also appear in the next "Thor" film.
NBC's "Hannibal" is written and exec-produced by Bryan Fuller ("Pushing Daisies.")
Hugh Dancy ("Confessions of an Alcoholic") will be playing FBI agent Will Graham.
