After years of waiting for a definitive answer, fans will be thrilled to know that the cast for th film has been announced. Peter Jackson, along with the executives behind the film, have just made the official announcement.
Martin Freeman will be playing the part of protagonist Bilbo Baggins and Richard Armitage will be playing the part of Thoren Oakenshield, who is the head of the Company of Dwarves. Other cast members announced were Aidan Turner, Graham McTavish, John Callen, Stephen Hunter, Mark Hadlow, and Peter Hambleton. Their parts have not yet been released.
Production on the film began earlier this month. The films are set to be released in December 2012 and December 2013.
