Episode 1: Harry Potter: Countdown to the End

Hey Everyone,

If you did not make it to the show tonight go on ITUNES right now and download the podcast. There you will find instructions for two contests to win two amazing prizes. Not to mention we had some great conversation about Harry Potter.

I wanted to put up some reflections on the show tonight.

First of all I really want to thank my friend Brynn for helping out. Her lust for Snape and her cool breezy manner was quite a good fit for my passion and Dani's energy. She did awesome!

Second, I really need to thank my roommate Jamie without her assistance this show would have been canceled. My computer has hard drive issues and she was willing to donate her computer/internet time to help out the show. Really do appreciate it!

That is what I love most about Harry Potter fans and these stories. Its about people coming together to do amazing things. In this case it was people coming together to encourage my dorkiness. Which is awesome.

I have a few thoughts that I wasn't able to put in the show due to time constraints and I will be honest thought constraints.

Feminism in Harry Potter
Brynn brought up an awesome point that the story follows powerful men like Lord Voldemort, Harry Potter, and Albus Dumbledore. But that does not take away from the powerful women that are in these books as well. Bellatrix Lestrange, Hermione Grangr, Professor Mongonagall, Nymphadora Tonks, Ginny Weasley, Mrs. Weasley, Luna Lovegood, and so many more. They are each strong characters with a core about them that does not need society or men to dictate what they think or what they do. They are strong whether they are emotional, emotionless, or somewher in between. I also enjoy the true feminism in this story..not the neo kind...but the wonder feminism in which women get to choose what role they want to play. That it does not take away from their strength whether they choose to work, choose to fight, or choose to raise seven of the best damn kids out there.

Ron Weasley
I could go on about him. I get his heart and his good intentions. When you are not sure what you deserve or whether you can do something....it effects your reaction time. I do that all the time. I am doing this now. I am applying to move on professional and as I do it.. I have to convince myself that I derserve it... that people will think I deserve it. So though it may take him awhile to deal with his inner demons...he always finds a way to put that all aside ..to be a great friend. What I value most in people and what I strive to be everyday is to be a reliable friend. Just like Ron Weasley who was described as loveable, trustworthy, and loyal by our on-air personalities.'

Sirius Black
I really wish that I was able to give a few more minuts to Sirius Black. He is a great character. One that is full of adventure, reckless abandon, and straight up unwavering loyalty. Someone who would jump into fire to save his friend. Though I do argue his fate though sad was very necessary for the story and even for his own personality. He is definitely a character that was needed in Harry's life. A father figure who looked out for him but at the same time gave Harry the freedom to be his own man. Our on-air personalities described him as perfect , sexy, and passionate. I think a few of us has a crush on him.

Thanks everyone. Definitely go listen to the show and learn how to win some prizes. If you have any comments about what was said during the show or have any ideas for discussions feel free to email me at megan@artistsondemandonline.com.

I hope you have a wonderful night. Sleep sweet.

Next Harry Potter: Countdown to the End is on Monday February 14th 7PST/10EST.

Zuckerberg and Eisenberg on SNL

It was both awkward and interesting watching the real-life Mark Zuckerberg meet his reel counterpart Jesse Eisenberg, last night as the first-time Academy nominee hosted Saturday Night Live. The sketch started with Eisenberg talking about his true personality in real life as being really cocky and confident as opposed to most of the film characters he played who are "shy and un-assuming." Saturday Night Live's Zuckerberg impersonator Andy Samberg then came out, joining Eisenberg while the real Zuckerberg complained in the backstage, stating he should be in front of the camera as he is the real Zuckerberg who invented "poking." Samberg, calling the situation "awk-berg" slid out of the picture when Zuckerberg finally came out joining Eisenberg, who apparently were just meeting each other for the first time. The man behind FaceBook and the face of the critically acclaimed The Social Network ended the sketch with a high-five after Zuckerberg answered Eisenberg's question, "What did you think [of the film]?" Zuckerberg replied, "It was interesting."

Franco and Hathaway to Host the Oscars

James Franco and actress Anne Hathaway are to host the 83rd Academy Awards to be held on February 27th. Many questioned the choice of hosts as both actors are Oscars contenders. It turned out that Franco is. It was announced today that Franco has been nominated for the first time, for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his exceptional performance in Danny Boyle's biographical adventure film "127 Hours".

The Academy had avoided the problem of having a nominee in the show by having comedians host the Oscars. Although, in the recent years, this had changed as movie actors like Hugh Jackman received good ratings for hosting the 81st Academy Awards. And it is not the first time an Oscar nominee is hosting the Academy. In 1973, Michael Caine who was nominated for Best Actor for his work in "Sleuth" was one of the hosts of the 45th Academy Awards.

"127 Hours" is also nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Adapted Screenplay and Original Score.

"True Blood" cast invited to Joe Manganiello's wedding

"She's been amazing. She's been really incredible,
and she's been by my side and been supportive
through the entire thing. There have been
moments that have been really hard for
me in my career that every actor goes through,
and she's the one who is like, 'Come on, lets keep going.'
She really is that cheerleader for me." [Joe on fiancee Audra.]

"The [True Blood] cast will be invited to the wedding," said True Blood's resident werewolf, Joe Manganiello (34), to People on Saturday. Manganiello said that after he got his first True Blood check as one of the series' regulars, he co-designed an engagement ring with his jewelry designer friend. The True Blood star and his now-fiancee, actress Audra Marie, traveled to Italy and got engaged in October. Manganiello said that they are close to settling the date and location for their wedding.

Jamie Oliver pitching in for the Aussie floods...

What luck (of sorts)...UK chef superstar and wholefoods hero, Jamie Oliver, was due to open his new 'Ministry of Food' kitchen in the Queensland town of Ipswich. For those of you who haven't seen what is happening in that part of the world, Ipswich was one of the major towns that nearly totally went underwater in the last 2 weeks.

In a statement, Jamie said, "I've been as shocked as anyone by the scenes of devastation in Queensland and the tragic stories to go with them.
"It's only right that the Ministry of Food Centre in Ipswich plays its part in helping the community, so I hope that providing free freshly cooked meals for those who need them most will go some way to helping the local community and relief workers in the coming days and weeks."

Previously, Jamie had stated that “Ipswich definitely needs our help. I can’t wait to get there, get the shop opened, get the kitchens running and get the community in there. I’m really proud to be going there. I think the community are going to love it, I think they’re going to embrace it.”

His team has been providing up to 250 fresh meals to locals who not only need some food, but need some good food. Every little bit of assistance and the chance of a new start for many will no doubt be jumped upon by locals (and I live less than an hour away, so I might have to go and check it out once it's up and running).

P!NK's message for her new song...

Whilst PiNK gears up for motherhood, the clip for her newest single (off her 'Greatest Hits So Far' CD) 'F**kin' Perfect' has hit TVs and whilst not everyone is happy about it's content, she posted the following on her webpage:

A Personal Note From P!nk:
I'm sure my newest video for "F**kin’ Perfect" will be much like some of my other videos, which basically means I expect it will ruffle some feathers.
My favorite books, art pieces, films, and music, always have something jarring about them. I want art to make me think.
In order to do that, it may piss me off, or make me uncomfortable. That promotes awareness and change, or at least some discussion.
That is my intention.
You can't move mountains by whispering at them. Cutting, and suicide, two very different symptoms of the same problem, are gaining on us. (the problem being; alienation and depression. the symptoms; cutting and suicide). I personally don't know a single person who doesn't know at least two of these victims personally. A lot of us have seen certain starlets showing off their latest scars on a red carpet somewhere, usually right before they head back to their favorite rehab.
Its a problem, and its something we should talk about.
We can choose to ignore the problem, and therefore ignore this video, but that won't make it go away.
I don't support or encourage suicide or cutting.
I support the kids out there that feel so desperate/numb/powerless, that feel unseen and unheard, and can't see another way.. I want them to know I'm aware. I have been there. I see them.
Sometimes that's all it takes.
Making this video was a very emotional experience for me, as was writing this song. I have a life inside of me, and I want her or him to know that I will accept him or her with open and loving and welcoming arms. And though I will prepare this little munchkin for a sometimes cruel world, I will also equip this kid to see all the beauty in it as well. There are good people in this world that are open-minded, and loving. There are those that accept us with all of our flaws. I do that with my fans/friends, and I will do that with my child, whoever they decide to be.

This message is so important to many children, teens and adults and we applaud PiNK for putting it out there in an attempt to garner public awareness and action...but that is what she loves to do - bust down society's walls!! Ugh, I can't wait to see how freakin adorable baby PiNK is going to be!!!

Angry Birds for all...

OK, so if you're one of the tens of millions of addicts who have downloaded the completely addictive iPhone game, you're in for a treat...Angry Birds is being developed into a show.

Producers are unsure if they will make the show for a traditional tv viewing audience or adapt it for the burgeoning internet show viewers. How they plan to make a whole show based on angry birds who slingshot themselves at green pigs' shambled residences is the biggest question at the moment I think!

We also have a very handy link for those of you hoping to cure your instatiable appetite for this game - read here or if you want to push your game playing experience into the real world, purchase the board game (yes you read it right) in May or plush characters and iPhone cases here RIGHT NOW!!

Jesse James is engaged...

to fellow tattoo enthusiast and celeb Kat Von D of LA Ink.
After what we all supposed was a tough year for Jesse, with the divorce & child custody issues and what not, he told People Magazine:
You know sometimes the public and press gets it wrong. This is one of those times. 2010 was actually the best year of my life because I fell in love with my best friend. An amazing woman who stood behind me when the world turned their backs.

"I have never met anyone so kind and loving and committed to making the world a better place every day. My love for her is beyond description. So honoured that she said 'yes.' Growing old with her is going to be a f***in' blast!
So I gues that's that!

The two have been getting all gushy on Twitter with Jesse reciting Spanish to Kat and lots of 'I Love You's going back and forth. Get a room guys :P

R.I.P. to "The Monkees" hit maker...

Music producer and promoter Don Kirshner, 76, died at his Florida home on Monday. Kirshner is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sheila, two children and grandchildren.

Playing Tonto, salute to Depp's heritage.

Johnny Depp who was part Cherokee was signed up to play the Lone Ranger's Native American sidekick, Tonto in Bervinski's film adaptation of the western TV series.

“It’s a real opportunity for me to give a salute to them.
Tonto was a sidekick in all the Lone Ranger series.
[This film] is a very different approach to that partnership.
And a funny one I think.”

Depp recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly and stated that they have a "really great, really funny" screenplay. The new film version of the western show will have "a very different approach" in relation to the Lone Ranger's partnership with sidekick Tonto. Depp is once again working with Pirates of Caribbean director Gore Bervinski. Back in December, Depp told Entertainment Tonight that he hoped either George Clooney or Brad Pitt could play the role of the Lone Ranger which was reported to have not yet been cast.

Created by Geroge W. Trendle and developed by Fran Striker, "The Lone Ranger" started as a radio serial in the 1930's. It was turned into television series and was aired in ABC US and ran from 1949 to 1957 with a total of 221 episodes.

Sunday Rose gets a little sister...

So, people speculated that when Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban left a wonderful sunny Sydney summer for a downright freezing Nashville winter back in December that something might be going on, because who in their right minds would want to make that trip!!

The Hollywood information train went into meltdown overnight with the news that they have had a baby. Faith Margaret Kidman Urban was born on 28 December 2010 via a surrogate. Nicole and Keith have confirmed that they are the biological parents and have issued the following statement via Keith's twitter account and official website: "Our family is truly blessed, and just so thankful, to have been given the gift of baby Faith Margaret. No words can adequately convey the incredible gratitude that we feel for everyone who was so supportive throughout this process, in particular our gestational carrier."

No pictures have been released yet and we wish the Kidman-Urban household all the best. Not only have they been blessed with a new child but their year started off pretty well with Nicole being nominated for Golden Globe for Rabbit Hole.

Anne Hathaway on Glee?...

YEP! She's been pushing to be included on the hit tv show for months now and creator Ryan Murphy had the cast in a frenzy backstage at the Golden Globes by confirming that Anne Hathaway IS going to be in a episode. Amber Riley said, "He (Ryan)  just said it about 10 minutes ago!" when they were being interviewed by E! after a group win and individual globes for Jane Lynch and Chris Colfer (full winners list here).

What character Anne is going to play is not yet confirmed, she told press last year that "I would want to be Kurt's aunt," she told reporters this week. "I have thought about it... I would like to pitch to Murphy right now that I go on as Kurt's aunt, his mother who is deceased's younger sister." As a fan (of both Anne and Glee) I would love to see this as I'm sure most of you would too.

Royal couple: Donations instead of wedding gifts

On the 29th of April, Prince William and fiancee Kate Middleton are scheduled to tie the knot. Associated Press recently reported that the Royal aides stated that the Royal couple is "determined to make sure their wedding is not overly ostentatious." So, instead of wedding gifts, the Royal couple may ask their guests to give donation to charity instead. This option is being considered according to the Royal family's spokesman but that no firm decision have been made yet. Wedding guests could still give the Royal couple traditional gifts if they choose to. As of now, the guest list for the Royal couple's wedding hasn't been released.

What's Your Sign?

If we are talking about Zodiac signs, you might be quick to answer the question "What's your sign?"
Well, not anymore as Professor Parke Kunkle of the Minnesota Planetarium Society stated that gradually, Earth's position in relation to the sun, has changed. Dr. Kunkle said that "[T]he Earth spins and, like a toy top, the spin axis moves around, pointing in different directions" thus, setting off the zodiac signs as much as a month that they no longer correspond to the dates and months we've all known.

In addition to this, Dr. Kunkle re-introduced the idea of Ophiuchus, the 13th Zodiac sign (dubbed as the "astrology's orphan" as it "gets left out"), adding it to the standard set of 12 Zodiac signs.

"Ophiuchus has been around a long time, and the sun has been going through Ophiuchus for thousands of years," Dr. Kunkle talked about Ophiuchus.

Ophiuchus (also known as Serpentarius, the "serpent bearer") is a large constellation that lies northwest of the center of the Milky Way. It is said to be a popular sign in Japan since the 1990's.

Here is the new Zodiac Sign Chart as Dr. Kunkle suggested:
Capricorn: Jan. 20 - Feb. 16
Aquarius: Feb. 16 - March 11
Pisces: March 11- April 18
Aries: April 18 - May 13
Taurus: May 13 - June 21
Gemini: June 21 - July 20
Cancer: July 20 - Aug. 10
Leo: Aug. 10 - Sept. 16
Virgo: Sept. 16 - Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30 - Nov. 23
Scorpio: Nov. 23 - Nov. 29
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29 - Dec. 17
Sagittarius: Dec. 17 - Jan. 20

So, what's your sign?

Britney is back....

Well Ms Spears tweeted a while back that her new album was going to be released in 2011 and we've been treated to the first single; the not very cryptically entitled 'Hold It Against Me'. The Millenium series - rewriting the ending...

Whilst the world gets to enjoy the Swedish movie adaptation of the hugely popular 'Millenium Trilogy' of books (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fired, The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest - read them if you haven't already!), Hollywood has decided to rewrite the entire ending!

Apparently David Fincher (director of The Social Network, Seven, Fight Club & others) and scriptwriter  Steven Zaillia have taken their own path with Steig Larsson's storyline, claiming that "Blomkvist is less promiscuous, Salander is more aggressive, and, most notably, the ending — the resolution of the drama — has been completely changed. This may be sacrilege to some, but Zaillian has improved on Larsson - the script's ending is more interesting."

This will make a lot of die hard fans very angry, but it will be interesting to see how it all pans out. The actress playing Lisbeth (Rooney Mara) has made a fantastic physical transformation for the role and Fincher is well known for his 'dark' take on situations. Daniel Craig is also starring.

New Breaking Dawn Photo Released

This may just be one of the most sought after photos at the moment. Entertainment Weekly announced on their website that there would be an exclusive photo in this week's edition. As you can all see, the photo is of Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella (Kristen Stewart) on their honeymoon.

The film's director provided this quote to EW in reference to the long awaited scene. "“It’s one of the most anticipated scenes. I spent a tremendous amount of time thinking about it. The anticipation is part of it and you want to play with what people expect and maybe subvert it a little and surprise them.”

If this photo, along with the previously released "feather" photo, is any indication of what to expect; I don't know how I am going to make it through the next ten months.

Australia needs your help...

Up to 75% of Queensland, Australia is underwater (75% of a total area of 1,730,648 sq km / or 1,075,374.81 square miles) and have been devastated by flash floods and rising water. A group of Aussie's have set up a fan fiction fundraiser at www.fandomsfightthefloods.blogspot.com / (@fandoms4floods on twitter and you can like our group fandomsfightthefloods on facebook) where you can donate a minimum of $5 (to be eligible for our effort) to the official Government authorities and let us know and you will receive a collection of exclusive fan fiction for which ever fandom you associate with or wish to associate with (we have a few options).

There are international options for donating including bank deposits and credit cards. This has only just began (this is my first day off work as I live in Brisbane which is where ALOT of the damage will be done) and it's going to take months if not years for some primary industries and families to recover. To make it worse, the water is funneling down river systems into neighbouring states and other states still are having their own flooding issues totally seperate to the Queensland ones! All of Australia needs your help.

10 people are confirmed dead....90 people are unaccounted for...your money goes towards helping everyone

Thankyou

Babies, babies everywhere!!...

There were 3 new celebrity babies born over the weekend!

Princess Mary and Crown Prince Fredrick of Denmark became parents to children #3 & #4 with the birth of their twins, a boy and a girl (no names released yet). There were concerts for Mary's health due to her age (38) but reports have said she's pulled through remarkably well and there were no complications at all. FYI for those of you who don't follow European Royalty, Mary is an Australian who met Fredrick when he was on holidays here and she had no idea who he was.
Their courtship and wedding was all very fairy tale like and she's our new #1 royal (this blogger lives in Australia). Picture Source

The other big news was that Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom have officially become parents as well. Their son was born on Thursday in the USA and Miranda's parents flew in from Australia for the special occassion. The news of a healthy addittion would have buoyed the family spirit after Miranda's grandparent's house burnt down last week. The Kerr's are a very closeknit family and this child is bound to be spoilt rotten (in the best way possible)

Gordon Ramsay gets himself in some trouble...

Whilst filming a doco on the (heinous) shark fin trade in Costa Rica, famously foul mouthed TV chef Gordon Ramsay has gotten himself into a few spots of bother including being held at gunpoint and having petrol poured over him!!

After discovering a stash of fins, filming and leaving the building the locals took offence to his showing up their illegal goods trade and poured petrol over him, "Then these cars with blacked out windows suddenly appeared from nowhere trying to block us in. We dived into (our) car and peeled off." Sounds like he wasn't being very sneaky about it all...you would think that having a camera crew in tow and trying to show up the bad guys (who have guns BTW) you might want to be a bit discrete.

They then made their way to the docks and scammed their way onto a boat where Gordon found a large sack of fins and was then firmly warned to stop filming by dudes with guns! and then was kindly shown the back door to the country by the police and was told that it was probably best if he left. I wonder if his colorful language made an appearance??

Lindsay Lohan, released from rehab on Monday

After a 3-month court ordered substance-abuse rehab (while on probation) at the Betty Ford Center, Lohan had been released last Monday. Upon her release, the “Mean Girls” star still faces an uncertain future as she still is under investigation for an alleged attack on a Betty Ford Center rehab worker, Dawn Holland. CNN reported that a Riverside County Sheriff's Department spokesperson stated that the altercation between Lohan and Holland was a violation of Lohan’s probation. CNN also reported that despite Holland’s refusal to further assist the investigation and expressing the desire not to file charges against Lohan, authorities are to send the results of their investigation on the Lohan/Holland case to the district attorney’s office. If charged with battery, misdemeanor and other violation charges, Lohan could possibly go back to jail for 6 months.

Despite Lohan’s police and rehab records, counselors, addiction psychiatrist and lawyers alike are staying positive about Lohan’s future not only as an artist but also a person.

'The future depends on what we do in the present,'
Lohan’s New Year’s message on her Twitter account stated, quoting Mahatma Gandhi, seemingly addressing her mind-set about her future after being released from the rehab.

Shania Twain starts again...

It was a short, sharp swap of partners by Shania Twain and her best friend in 2009 and whilst this sort of situation would be odd by anyone's standards I must say that it seems to have worked out eerily OK.

The couple (Shania and Frederic) were married in a small ceremony in Puerto Rico on 1 Jan 2011.This is going to be a big year for Shania as reenters the public arena and embarks on getting her mojo back with a show on Oprah's new cable network. Twain said her show will feature interviews with people who have gone through "big emotional crises & deep life struggles".
