Stars Sign Up to Participate in a Cancer Telethon

Not Jerry Lewis, either, but the A-listers are turning out to battle cancer.  Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Samuel L. Jackson and Emma Stone are a few of  the stars participating in the third Stand Up to Cancer telethon, the organization announced.  Ms. Paltrow is an executive producer for the event to raise money and awareness.

Musical performances by Taylor Swift, Coldplay, Alicia Keys and Tim McGraw are planned, and more than 25 movie, TV and sports stars will be taking phone pledges, said executive producer Joel Gallen.

Laura Ziskin, founder of Stand Up to Cancer and producer of its first two telethons in 2008 and 2010, lost her seven-year fight against breast cancer last year. The "Spider-Man" movie producer was 61.

In addition to ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC and numerous cablers, other significant SU2C supporters include AOL, Bonnier Corporation, Condé Nast Media Group, eBay Inc., Facebook, Hearst Corporation, Hulu, iTunes, Los Angeles Times, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Meredith Corporation, The New York Times Company, Rodale, Time Inc, WebMD, Yahoo! and YouTube. "Hereafter" Pulled from Japan Theaters

Due to the devastation that Japan experienced caused by a tsunami that hit the country recently, director Clint Eastwood had decided to pull his film "Hearafter" from Japanese theaters. The film was said to have scenes that were eerily similar to the disaster Japan just encountered with tsunami hitting the coast, catching people off-guard and causing massive destruction. The film will be released on DVD and Blu-ray tomorrow and it was reported that Warner Home Video does not have any plans of changing this release date.

"Hereafter" stars Matt Damon and Belgian actress Cécile de France ("Haute Tension").

Stars using their celebrity for a good cause...

Major Hollywood players Denzel Washington, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Garner & hubby Ben Affleck are all supporting philanthropic ventures at the moment;

Denzel & Anne are hosting the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway. The main recipient of the evening is China's Liu Xiaobo who will not be able to attend as he's currently in prison for inciting subversion after he spoke out against the government, calling for democracy.

Matt and BFF Ben have both recorded PSA's for Feeding America, hoping to get more public awareness for the 49 million American's who don't get enough food each day, and this time of the year is particularly stressful on many communities.

Jen, however, was across the country announcing the opening of 6 new 'Save the Children' centres. As a mother of 2 this cause is particularly close to Jen's heart and works on many aspects of child development including nutrition, physical education, literacy & early education.

We hope that everyone follows their lead and gives something, what ever you can - $2 can make a difference! There are many people out there who are in need, so find a charitable organization and make someone's holiday season a little easier and brighter (personally, I give gifts to the Australian KMart Wishing Tree for underprivileged kids).

Matt Damon is the Odd Man Out

Matt Damon is officially the only male is his family. A Rep for the actor confirmed that Damon's wife, Luciana, gave birth to Stella Zavala Damon was born in New York on Wednesday.Matt's Rep also released this statement to People: "Mom and baby are both healthy. The whole family is thrilled."

Stella will be joining Isabella, 4, Gia, 2, and Alexia, 11. Isabella and Gia are both children of the couple, whereas Alexia is from a previous marriage of Luciana's.

It seems to me that Matt had better prepare himself for what is to come from having four daughters. He sure is going to have his hands full for the next 18 years or so! Congratulations to the Damon family on their newest addition!
