Rolling Stone names "The Message" the Greatest Rap Song of All Time.

In a great essay written by Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson of the Roots, who help pick the winners, Rolling Stone names Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five's The Message as the best Rap song of all time.

I said a hip, hop, the hippy to the hippy/To the hip hip hop, you don't stop. . . .

If you have never heard the song go right now (we'll wait) toYouTube and check it out.  It's isn't the Rap we hear today, but if you think about it you can hear how that song lead to where we are.  Just like Questlove I can remember the first time I heard it and there was nothing else like it my little corner of suburbia.

While you are at it, also read his essay. Questlove can certainly give you a better perspective than I can. If you like to know how things got started this is some wonderful information.  You can check it out by following our source link.

The Roots drummer and Universal Music Enterprises A&R exec Harry Weinger will jointly teach a "Classic Albums" course at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts this Spring semester, reports Billboard.

His other titles include late night personality, amateur wedding photog,  Twitter superstar, and of course musician has jointed James Franco in the ranks of mufti-hyphenate professorial elite.

The two-credit course will focus on music, lyrics, production and business aspects of albums that are considered classic, and will also look at why such albums stand the test of time.  Sounds cool! Sign us up!
