Life Unexpected Recap 10/19

The first thing Lux sees when she wakes up is Eric doing the walk of shame from Paige's room. Not the best way to wake up in the morning. Baze tries to grab a minute with Emma to ask her out, but she doesn't give him the chance. She is his boss, and nothing can happen between them. Kate decides that she wants to surprise Ryan with a staycation at the newest hotel in Portland, because they never really got a honeymoon. Ryan calls Kate to get some advice on how to deal with Emma, and she tells him to go on the company retreat in order to get some alone time with her.

When Lux gets to school for her tutoring, she confronts Eric and tells him that she wants another tutor. She is still failing, and she just doesn't want to see him anymore. It turns out that the retreat for Baze's company is at the same hotel as Kate and Ryan's staycation/second honeymoon. Baze wants to switch rooms with Kate and Ryan so that he can have to room next to Emma's. The closer the better, right? As Ryan picks up the bags to move them, he strains his back and has to stay in bed. So much for the honeymoon part of the "trip." Paige and Lux are having a movie night, but it seems that Paige has a surprise for Lux when there is a knock on the door. She invited Eric so that they could watch the movie of the book he is tutoring her on. After the movie ends, while Paige is asleep, Eric and Lux get into another argument about their feelings for each other. Eric admits that the only reason he volunteered to tutor her was because it was the only way that he could get to know her without it being wrong. The next day at school, Eric tells Lux that he thinks she may have a learning disorder. He knows that she understands the concepts, she just has trouble putting it on paper.

Baze finally musters up the courage to talk to Emma, but it turns out that she has a man staying with her. As Ryan is lying in bed, Kate decides that they should reminisce their wedding day by going through their album. There is a picture of Ryan talking to some woman, and when Kate asks who it is, Ryan tells her that its Julia. His parent's friend. After seeing the picture, Ryan has a flashback to the night he found out about Kate and Baze sleeping together, and it turns out that he slept with Julia that night. Kate had no idea who Julia was until she called to talk to Lux and got Paige instead. Paige tells her the Julia was "the one that got away" for Ryan. She was the love of his life. On the night of the rehearsal dinner, Julia comes to Ryan to tell him that she may be pregnant. He asks her what he is supposed to do, and she tells him not to do anything until she knows for sure. After Kate confronts Ryan about what she heard from Paige, Ryan tells her that he slept with Julia. She isn't pregnant, but when Kate asks Ryan what would have happened if she was, he says he doesn't know. Kate is furious with this answer and goes home.

After the company dinner party is over, Baze finds Emma sitting by the pool alone. Even though they both admit that they are happy to be there together, Emma won't allow things to go any farther. Baze goes to find Kate to get her opinion on what just happened, but instead discovers that she left. When Baze asks why she left, Ryan tells him that they got into an argument over getting to your ex better. Baze assumes that Ryan is talking about the night before the wedding when Kate came to him and told him that she might be in love with him; but Ryan was referring to what happened between him and Julia. When Ryan confronts Kate about the night before the wedding and asks her what she would have done if Baze reciprocated her feelings, she also says that she doesn't know. It seems that Kate and Ryan have a lot of problems that they are going to need t work through if their marriage is going to work.

Paige comes home from seeing Eric and informs Lux that he broke up with her because he has feelings for someone else. Lux is beyond thrilled by this news, and she plans on talking to Eric about it at school the next day. Her plans are thwarted, however, when she shows up for tutoring and Eric is no longer her tutor. Over on Baze's side of town, he lays his feelings out on the table for Emma and she likes what she hears. The show ends with them kissing in her office.

Life Unexpected Recap 10/12

Ryan and Kelly are hosting a music festival, where Mia Catalano will be performing. Baze finds out about Kate and Ryan trying for a baby when he comes to pick up his tickets for the festival and to take the girls to school. On the way to school, Baze, Luxe, and Tasha make a pact to each bring a date to help them get over their former loves. Luxe invites Eric, but discovers that he is already going with someone else; Baze asks a woman from work, and Tasha invites Jones for Lux. Paige gives Lux a makeover, so Lux can look good for Eric. When they get to the concert, Lux finds out that Paige is Eric's date. Lux is really upset over the fact that Eric is there with Paige, and is completely ignoring Jones. Lux goes for a walk and Eric catches up with her to tell her that she needs to find an available guy her own age. When she goes back to talk to Jones, she sees him and Tasha kissing. Lux and Tasha get into a big fight and Lux runs off.

While Mia is on stage performing, Kate and Hayley start discussing their past. They discover that they have more in common than they thought. Mid conversation, Mia calls Hayley up to the stage to sing, and Kate tells her to go for it. Who knows how much longer she is going to be able to perform before she starts to show again. When the final band loses it's lead singer, Hayley manages to pull through and get Sarah McLachlan to close out the show. Kate is forever grateful to her.

Kate tells her mom that she is still on the pill, even though Ryan believes that she has stopped taking them. Ryan goes to look for something in Kate's purse, and finds her birth control pills. Ryan can't be married to Kate if he can't trust her. Kate and her mom have a huge fight, and it doesn't go well. Her mom tells her that she never actually wanted to have Kate. Kate says that she is scared to have a kid because she doesn't want to be like her mom. Later on in the evening, Kate and her mom are able to talk and make up. They apologize for all of the horrible things they said to each other. She admits that she doesn't want to have a baby in front of Lux. She doesn't want to be there for the new baby when she wasn't there for Lux. When she tells Ryan this, she also admits that she has been choosing Lux over him and she is sorry. Kate makes it a point to let Lux know that no baby will ever replace her. Lux tells Kate that there is one other person that she needs to tell that to. Kate heads over to Baze's to talk to him about it as well, and Baze tells her that hearing about the baby has actually helped him to move on with his life. Kate's face leads the audience to believe that she is not all that happy with this information.
