Welsh actor and musician Rhys Ifans (Nothing Hill) was arrested after attending the panel at the San Diego Comic-Con.
Ifans who plays Dr. Curt Connors (The Lizard) in the new Spider-Man film starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone said to have shoved a female security guard before the Friday night panel. According to reports, Ifans smelled of alcohol and was said to have been irate by not being allowed pass through by the guards due to lack of proper identification. Ifans was allowed to join the panel though he arrived late and said very little. A citizen's arrest was made by the guard once the panel was over. According to a Sony spokesperson, Ifans "deeply regrets the indicent."
Lt. Andra Brown said that, "He [Ifans] was aggressive and belligerent. He was berating everyone from the security staff to the United States of America."
Ifans was cited and released (non-custodial misdemeanor arrest.
The San Diego City Attorney will determine whethere charges should be pursued against Ifans. Ifans could be reguired to pay a fine or the actor could dispute the case before a judge.
