Nicolas Cage Arrested in New Orleans

American actor Nicolas Cage was arrested on Friday, April 16th, in New Orleans. Cage was reported to be arguing with his wife outside a residence in the French Quarter which Cage claimed they were renting.

The 47-year old Academy Award winning actor was taken into custody on Friday at about 11:30 p.m. He was book on the suspicion of "domestic abuse battery, disturbing the peace and public drunkenness."

According to spokesman Gary Flot in a written statement, "(Cage) and his wife were standing in front of a residence that he insisted was the property the couple was renting. She disagreed and Cage grabbed her by the upper arm and pulled her to what he believed was the correct address."

Cage then began striking cars and tried to pick up a cab. Flot added, "At that point, an officer who had been flagged down by on-lookers drove up on the couple, immediately observed that Cage was heavily intoxicated, and ordered him out of the cab, which prompted Cage to start yelling. The officers subsequently took Cage to Central Lock-Up."

Flor also stated that there were no visible injuries to Cage's wife.

Cage was expected to appear in court on Saturday afternoon.
