Change in the Oscars rules

A change in the Oscar nominations was recently announced as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences approved it. The change in the rules allow between five to 10 best picture nominees.

In the previous years, only five nominations for best picture was announced while it doubled in the last and current years.

"If there are only eight pictures that truly earn that honour in a given year, we shouldn't feel an obligation to round out the number," Bruce Davis said, a retiring Academy Executive Director.

The change was approved by the board during a vote on Tuesday.
