American actress Debbie Reynolds, mother of actress Carrie Fisher, is a film memorabilia collector. Reynolds once dreamed of having her own permanent museum but now she is auctioning off her collection.
Reynolds' collection includes Marilyn Monroe's white halter dress (1955's The Seven Year Itch), Claudette Colbert's gold-lame and emerald royal boudoir gown (1934's Cleopatra), the great Charlie Chaplin's signature hat, Greta Garbo's dark green velvet period dress (1935's Anna Karenina), Harpo Marx's vintage top hat and wig and Rudolph Valentino's matador outfit (1922's Blood and Sand.) Reynolds also has a lock of Mary Pickford's (one of the original founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) hair and keeps it in a wooden display box.
LA Times reports Reynolds' auction starts on Saturday, June 18th, at noon.
