Marilyn Monroe's famous white halter dress was sold for $4.6 million at a Beverly Hills auction Saturday night.
The dress was immortalized in the 1955 film The Seven Year Itch. In the scene, Monroe stood above a subway gate and the pleated dress billowed upward.
The white halter dress was among other Monroe's outfits featured in the auction which was from Debbie Reynold's collection. Another Monroe outfit sold at the auction was the red-sequined and feathered gown the actress had worn in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes which went for $1.4 million.
