The Nova Echo and Oh No Fiasco Concert Review
If you're looking for a concert with an insane amount of energy from both bands on the bill, you need to take the time to check out The Nova Echo and Oh No Fiasco. The concert took place at The Double Door Inn in Charlotte, NC on Thursday, April 28, 2011.
The Nova Echo is a local band hailing from Asheville, NC. The band consists of Matt Hixon on Bass, Lee Brooks on keyboard, Travis Moss on drums, Caleb Hanks on Lead Vocals, and Evan Bradford on Guitar as well as vocals. The band is full of such energy, that is it quite difficult to keep from moving. In between each of the songs, Caleb somehow has a way of having the audience in stitches from his randomness and jokes throughout the set. I can honestly say that I haven't laughed like that at a concert in a very very very long time. The interaction they have with the audience is not something that I see very often. In fact, it is quite refreshing to see a band so involved with the people that they are performing to. The songs they sing are originals that have a sound unlike anything I have ever heard before. My personal favorite is Satellite; but I must say that the one cover they did perform, "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers was INSANE!!!! This is definitely a band that I would recommend checking out if you like good music and great Yoda impressions.
I wasn't quite sure what to expect from Oh No Fiasco when I saw each of the members of the band stretching as if they were going to be running a marathon before their set; but it sure as heck wasn't what I got. Having never heard them before, I didn't know what was in store for my ears. The band is made up of Lindsey Stamey on lead vocals, Seth Rowlette on guitar, Colin Cunningham on drums, Thomas Boyd on bass, and Cameron Cunningham on BOTH keyboards. The band is based out of Knoxville, TN, and this was just the start of their most recent tour. To say that these guys are energetic, would be a gross understatement. There was not a minute throughout the entire set where they were standing still. There was one point in which Seth was hanging from the rafters of the venue and Cameron had to take his glasses off because of all the head banging. I can also tell you that I can't recall ever seeing a band that was so well coordinated with their outfits. In chatting with Lindsey, I came to discover that she was the one that was responsible for the embellishments on each members shirt. I was highly impressed. Not only does she have a voice I would kill for, but she can sew too!!!! When the time came for them to announce it was the last song of the night, I was a bit disappointed. I couldn't get enough of what they were offering. I definitely left the show a huge fan of theirs; and I will be seeing them the next time they come through Charlotte.
Both of these bands are incredibly talented, and it was a great night had by all. The members of each band are kind and generous with their fans, and I can't wait to experience their music again.
P.S.
Congratulations to Seth of Oh No Fiasco on his wedding that took place this Saturday. We wish you all the best!!
