American actor Leonardo DiCaprio was reported to have spent $1.42 million for a Salvador Dali painting at a New York Auction.
DiCaprio who won the Spanish Catalan surrealist's Chevaliers en parade at a Christie's sale in Manahattan was reported to have been outbidded on two Picassos.
Rachel Steckson, a gallery worker told New York Post, "He bid on the Picassos but it was clear the Dali was what he wanted. He turned around and was like, 'Yes!'"
Dali painted Chevaliers en parade painted in 1942. The painting depicts a scene of war in which a horseback rider holds a spear, pursuing the sphere underneath it, representing the world.
