Film adaptation of anime series "Voltron" confirmed

If you were a child when Voltron was a big hit (and absolutely loved it!), you might want to brace yourself.

At the end of Comic-Con panel entitled "Voltron Resurgent", Relativity Media just confirmed that the studio has "optioned the feature-film rights" for Voltron. This means that Relativity Media will adapt the 1984 cult anime into a live-action film.

Voltron is the name of the super robot that emerges when the Voltron Force, a team of young pilots, unite their individual vehicles together.

The adaptation has yet to have a director and a release date but is being produced by Charles Rover of The Dark Knight, Richard Suckle of The International, and Jason Netter of Wanted. It has been reported that Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer (Sahara, Conan the Barbarian) will be writing the Voltron script.

Let's hope this adaptation would live up to the greatness of the anime series!
