On Thursday, the 2011 Emmy nominations were announced.Two of HBO's new dramas, the period crime series Boardwalk Empire received 18 nominations while fantasy/adventure series based on George R.R. Martin's best-selling series A Song of Ice and Fire, Game of Thrones garnered 13 nominations.
Big Bang Theory (CBS) received the best comedy nomination. Its leads Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki were nominated for best actor in the comedy category.
30 Rock received 13 nominations while Mad Men received the most nominations, with 19.
HBO's mini-series Mildred Pierce starring Titanic actress Kate Winslet received 21 nominations in total.
The Emmy ceremony will be broadcast live on Fox on the 18th of September.
