Co-Creator of Artists On Demand, Nikki Moore, Interview

What made you and Vicky decide to start Artists On Demand?

Vicky and I were having a normal conversation one day, a few years ago and she happened to mention that we should start an online radio show. We were heavily involved with 100 Monkeys and their fan club at the time, along with Spencer Bell Legacy so having our own radio show where we could promote these two bands was ideal.

Not to mention, we both love Indie music and a few years ago the industry was right on the cusp of letting these bands on mainstream radio. It wasn’t happening fast enough for us so we created Artists On Demand. It was a place where our friends and us could talk about the music we liked and others could join in.

What are your biggest passions in life?

I have quite a few passions in life, music being the biggest. I’ve spent years around musicians, concerts etc…I’ve surrounded myself with people who play music independently and people who love music just as much as I do. I really want to represent the little guy, the artists and bands who can’t catch a break. I feel like I’ve overcome some of these issues in my personal life so why not pay it forward?

Artists On Demand has grown quite a bit over the last couple years. How does it make you feel to see your listenership and popularity growing?

Honestly, the whole thing makes me emotional. It’s so rewarding to see this seed of an idea grow into such an amazing flower, you know? It’s perplexing to me when people talk about AOD from a fan’s perspective because in my mind it’s still the little show that could…that little radio show run by friends who did one show a week. I’m very honored to be associated with such an amazing group of ladies and the show.

Where do you hope to see Artists On Demand go over the next couple years?

I would love to see us go viral. Maybe a show on XM/Sirius radio or a platform where we can reach even more people than we do now! It would be amazing to travel, get one on one interviews from backstage at various shows. The possibilities are endless but mostly, I’d love to see us all succeed at whatever life happens to throw at us.

What is the most shocking thing to date that has happened to you being part of Artists On Demand?

The most shocking thing? That will always be interviewing Bryan White. He is someone I adore and he has been there for me indirectly through his music for over eleven years. I was blown away by his humbleness, the same level of humbleness I viewed in him when I was sixteen and meeting him for the first time.

What five musical guests would you recommend everyone listen to?

I recommend you listen to them all. I will give you my top two… Ian Axel and Bryan White.

What are your tips for musicians and artists that want to submit to be on Artists On Demand?

Be persistent, send us your stuff and make it happen! That’s how we’ve gotten this far so the formula works. Oh and contact Kristin, the Program Manager Queen.

Anything you can spill on what is to come in the near future on Artists On Demand?

No details BUT, there are some very big things in our future. Like any good things in life, it takes time, patience and money. You haven’t seen the last of AOD and the powerhouse team of ladies who run the show. We’re here to stay!
