Keira Knightley stars in "Anna Karenina" remake

It has been confirmed that the epic romance Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy is getting a Hollywood remake.

In Focus Features announcement today, Joe Wright of Pride & Prejudice, Hanna, and Atonement was said to be teaming up with English actress Keira Knightley for the Tolstoy remake.

Wright and Knightley who previously worked in films Pride & Prejudice and Atonement will be working with playwright Tom Stoppard who penned the film Shakespeare in Love.

Other stars confirmed to join this Anna Karenina remake are Jude Law, Aaron Johnson, Kelly Mcdonald, Emily Watson, Domhall Gleeson, Matthew Macfadyen, and Olivia Williams.

Anna Karenina have been adapted to film and television several times including the 1997 version directed by Bernard Rose which starred Sophie Marceau and Sean Bean.

Wright's Anna Karenina is expected to start filming later this year.
