"Lion King," box office success once again

One of the most successful animated films of all time, Lion King which Disney recently re-released in 3D is expected to gross $25 million this weekend.

Topping the new releases in the United States - Drive, I Don't Know How She Does It, and Straw Dogs - Lion King already earned $8.8 million on its first day back in the theaters.

Lion King was released in 1994 impressing critics and Disney fans alike with its songs by Sir Elton John and Tim Rice and Hans Zimmers musical score. In 1997, the animation was adapted into a musical Broadway show which later on won Tony awards. This year, The Lion King the musical has become the seventh longest-running musical show on Broadway.
