Rocking starts in Rio as "Rock in Rio" festival opens

And the "Rock in Rio" festival is open.

As the world's biggest music festival, "Rock in Rio" in Brazil is expected to attract 700,000 people during its week-long run. Rock in Rio features an all-star line-up including Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snow Patrol, Elton John, Metallica, Stevie Wonder, Jamiroquai, Coheed and Cambia, Motörhead, and a lot more.

The tickets which cost between $50-$100 were sold out. The festival is being held in the "City of Rock" a special venue built in the same site where Rio will hosts the 2016 Olympics.

It was said that while "Rock in Rio" festival is still the biggest event of its kind in the world, the size of the attendees this year was just half of the number of people who attended in 1985, when the festival first took place with 1.4 million people came to see amazing bands like AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Rod Stewart, and the legandary Queen.

On Friday, at the start of the concerts, a video by Queen performing one of their biggest hists, "Love of My Life" during the "Rock in Rio" '85 festival was shown earning an ovation from the crowd.
