English character actor Michael Roland Gough best known as Alfred, the Dark Knight's trusted butler and friend, has died today, March 17th, at age 94.Gough, a favourite of director Tim Burton, also starred in other Burton films such as Sleepy Hollow, The Corpse Bride and Alice In Wonderland in which he provided voices in the last two films.
Gough's career started back in 1946 when he appeared in the TV movie Androcles And The Lion. During Gough's six-decade career, he starred in shows like the Avengers, The Saint and Doctor Who. Gough first appeared in Doctor Who back in the 1960's where he played opposite William Hartnell. He again appeared in the show later in the 1980's with the fifth Doctor, Peter Davison.
According to Gough's ex-wife Anneke Wills, the veteran actor passed away in the early hours at home with his family. Gough was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in November 23rd 1916.
