Post "District 9" Film Has a Release Date

Named as one of the top 10 independent films of 2009 by the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures, Neill Blomkamp's "District 9" took everybody by surprise. With it's low budget and relatively unknown cast, the independent film did not only receive very positive feedback from critics and sci-fi fans alike, but it also garnered four Academy Award nominations in 2010 including Best Picture. The brilliance of the film relied on the story-telling and the amazing, realistic portrayal of the actors that once the film was over, you wanted more.

So, it is good news to all "District 9" fans as Sony Pictures will be producing "Elysium", the post "District 9" film, and announced that it will be released on March 8th, 2013. It will star Sharlto Copley as Wikus from the first film who will be joined in by Jodie Foster and Matt Damon. Recent news about the film is that Brazilian actor Wagner Moura from José Padilha's "Tropa de Elite" and "Tropa de Elite 2" will be playing "Elysium"'s villain.

There are no clear details as to what is going to happen in "Elysium" but it is currently assumed/known that it is set 100 years in the future in a different planet.
