Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton Rule at the CMA's

Last night the Country Music Association broadcast its annual awards and show the (adorable) couple Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton ruled the show.

Blake, a coach on the show The Voice, won male vocalist of the year for the third year and two other additional awards.  Miranda female vocalist of the year, and the couple shared song of the year for Over You.   (See below for a full list of the winners)

Blake's father encouraged the couple to write a song about his brother who died in a car accident when he was a teenager. "My dad always told me, 'Son, you should write a song about your brother,'" Shelton said. "I lost my dad in January, and it's so amazing to me that tonight, even after he's gone, he's still right. I just needed the right person to write this song with and the right person to sing it.

Two other couples were also winners last night: Little Big Town, a quartet that includes husband and wife Jimi Westbrook and Karen Fairchild, were awarded vocal group and single of the year for Pontoon, while Thompson Square's Shawna and Keifer Thompson won vocal duo of the year.

Eric Church won album of the year for his breakthrough album Chief.

"I spent a lot of my career wondering where I fit in – too country, too rock," Church said. "I want to thank you guys for giving me somewhere to hang my hat tonight."

Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw and his wife Faith Hill, Lady Antebellum and Keith Urban all got together to salute lifetime achievement winner Willie Nelson, ending with a group singalong of On the Road Again.  Go Willie!

Aw!  It was a wonderful and sentimental evening.
